Property Tax Amendment On Nov. 7 Ballot — An amendment to Pennsylvania’s constitution will be up for approval, Nov. 7, that may make debate about a state-wide ban on school property tax moot if it should pass.

Ending the property tax as a means of funding schools has been on the legislative agenda since at least 2012.  The bills have been called the Property Tax Independence Act and have had the number 76 in their name.

The amendment, sponsored by Rep. David Maloney (R-130), would change Article VIII of the state constitution to allow local taxing authorities to exclude from taxation an amount based on the assessed value of homestead property.

Existing law now caps the exclusion at 50 percent.

Implementation would require the General Assembly to pass enabling legislation to establish guidelines for local jurisdictions to follow if the amendment should pass.

John Cruaxe Shrimp N Grits — John Cruaxe had just received disturbing news. Cruaxe was the fatherly founder of a small, but highly respected and profitable, Silicon Valley computer company.

The aggressive little firm managed to remain a step ahead of the industry giants in many important computer developments. Much of the credit was awarded to Phil Dillon, a brilliant young scientist who was forever “pulling money-making rabbits out of a hat.”

Dillon, who had a beautiful wife and pretty daughter, had in the past a ready smile for everyone, despite the seriousness of his work.

But lately, the smile had been replaced by a worried frown.

Cruaxe now apparently knew why. The company’s general manager had turned in a report that revealed that Dillon had met with representatives of a Japanese competitor on several occasions. The report, prepared by Cruaxe’s security personnel, also showed that Dillon was a heavy gambler and was in debt to the tune of over $100,000.

The general manager insisted that Dillon be fired immediately.

Cruaxe, in a quiet voice, said, “Let’s find out a bit more, before we do anything. I look upon this company as I do my own body. If something ailed my arm, I would try to heal it, before I cut it off.”

Cruaxe called the young computer scientist into his office and confronted him with the evidence gathered by the security department.

Dillon broke down. Between sobs, he explained how the Reno gambling tables drew him as a magnet would a piece of iron. How he began placing larger bets in an attempt to recoup his losses. How he began arguing with his wife. He was very unhappy. He swore, however, that although tempted, he never betrayed Cruaxe or the company.

Cruaxe smiled. He wrote out a check to cover the gambling losses. He then gave Dillon a large raise that would be taken out of his pay each week to repay the gambling loan. He then promised Dillon a five percent ownership in the company if he would join Gamblers Anonymous to cure the destructive malady.

Within a few weeks, Dillon was smiling and again pulling money-making rabbits out of his hat. One idea alone was worth over $500,000.

To celebrate, Cruaxe, a native-born South Carolinian, held a weekend barbecue for the entire staff. Spareribs, steak and chicken were served but the real hit of the event was the very simple shrimp and grits recipe passed onto him by his father.

John made this without meat although adding bacon is always good.

Take the amount of shrimp you want, lightly pepper them and smother them in garlic powder.

Then cook the grits according to the directions on the box except substitute chicken broth for water.

When the broth is absorbed mix in cheese — cheddar is best and the amount is your call —  and cook until  incorporated stirring frequently. 

 While you are incorporating the cheese, heat butter (or oil) in a very hot pan and put in the shrimp. Cook them for a minute or two on each side. Plate the grits — or put them in a large bucket for a barbecue — and add the shrimp.

Bunny Welsh Attack Backfiring — The very decent Chesco Sheriff Bunny Welsh got grief from the usual suspects after she noted on Facebook that she bought Dinesh D’Souza’s new book The Big Lie: Exposing the Nazi Roots of the American Left and attached a photo.

It was offensive after the Charlottesville riots, they said.

She also committed the mortal sin of “liking” a Facebook post by commentator Kevin Martin, who is black, in which Martin said:

The reason why the KKK, Neo-Nazis, and white supremacists are so freely called out and condemned by politicians, while Black Lives Matter, and Antifa aren’t, is because the KKK, Neo-Nazis and white supremacist pose no real imminent threat to property, and human life Antifa and BLM, Do.

And Martin is 100 percent right of course. The KKK and Nazis have today devolved into disorganized gaggles of incompetents, the smartest of which would have an IQ barely above room temperature on a cool day. They would have trouble disrupting a church picnic.

Antifa and BLM, however, are organized and funded by pros with a concise agenda. They are truly dangerous to every decent person of whatever race, gender or sexual orientation who wants to live at peace with his neighbor.

Well now, Sheriff Welsh’s name is getting out there. The Philadelphia Inquirer has written a relatively fair piece. and she has appeared on Dom Giordano and Chris Stigall.

She has told us the feedback she is getting from the public is almost 100 percent positive. There is, of course,  the usual suspects who are long-known and who no longer have a sting despite their prolific use of vicious words and their willingness to slander.

If the usual suspects are not careful they will succeed in removing her as sheriff — by putting her in Congress or Harrisburg.

James Fields Acquittal What If — James Fields Jr., the driver of the car that killed Heather Heyer during Saturday’s riots in Charlottesville, Va, may be the most hated man in America. Media outlets are calling him sans qualification a “neo Nazi” and “white supremacist”. The President, himself, has been backed into calling him a terrorist and murderer not necessarily to the joy of the prosecutors who are going to find it that much harder to find an untainted jury.

It would be the ultimate display of hipster irony if the progressives broke into the jail and hanged him from a lamppost.

Fields is charged with second degree murder, three counts of malicious wounding and failure to stop in an accident that resulted in death.

FindLaw.com says second degree murder is ordinarily defined as: 1) an intentional killing that is not premeditated or planned, nor committed in a reasonable “heat of passion”; or 2) a killing caused by dangerous conduct and the offender’s obvious lack of concern for human life. 

From the videos all of us have seen, it certainly fits but here’s a thought that will make certain heads spin: what if he’s acquitted?  What if his motivation wasn’t to cause harm but to flee danger as some tweets at the time seem to indicate? If he can show this, he will be acquitted of the murder charge and probably everything else.

So hipsters, progressives and media pundits, get your torches and clubs and rope and break into that jail now if you want done what you’ve already made your minds up about must be done.

Or else just ask what Clarence Darrow would do and let a trial happen. If Fields is found guilty he’ll be punished as deserved.

This new Civil War has been declared.

It began unrecognized for the beast that it is inside of the inner cities, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Baltimore, etc; Where murder rates surge. It’s a war being waged against an unsuspecting population, because of politically correct branding. This is a war between thuggery and civilized peoples. Takers and producers. Arsonists, marxists, terrorists, and liberty loving people. It began at a time of their choosing, and will end on our terms, and when we decide. We will have order. We will have justice. Government will be allowed to function, whether it’s headed by our guy or theirs, because that’s how America works. It’s something that will need to be strived for, probably over many years, and blood will be likely shed on both sides.

I am not a peace loving person. I think peace is largely a delusion, as history proves every day of the year, every year. If you do have peace, it’s temporary at best, and you have to work for it, and we haven’t worked. When the time comes to defend liberty, defend your family, and to ensure your basic needs, know this. Be ready for the day. Because the other side will not hesitate to kill you if you’re better off than them. Equally poor, equally oppressed and equally uneducated, or dead.

Those will be your choices. Create your own new choice. Join your local Tea Party. Join the resistance. Join with the freedom loving peoples who will stand on the right side of history and die on that sword, should the day come when blood is needed to water the tree of liberty.

Elected officials need to be effective partners of the people, not necessarily ‘leaders’ as the word is often used.

If ever inclined, and elected, I would be your partner. I would restore Constitutional Government back to a lawful, basic, and moral path. We’d work inside of the confines that are defined by the founders. They did the heavy lifting. We just need to carry it through and maintain the vision of this promised land.

I would surely hit the same kind of resistance that other Tea Party candidates have been stalled by. But as your partner, we’d work through it. We’d have many town halls; I would be so accessible; like family. I would call out by name those who oppose me in my efforts to push forth your will, to do what you’ve elected me to do. In this way, and in others, we can continue our work towards our common goals. Surely I would need your help, my constituents, to have any hope; our shared hope; of being effective to your satisfaction.

Please recognize that this group is a bad thing. They are modern-day brownshirts filled with hate and motivated by a desire to rule. They are worse than modern-day Klansmen and Nazis in that the modern-day Klan and Nazi Party are run by incompetents that would make Elmer Fudd look smart.

Few people called “racists” are. Racism is the practice of defining ethnicities, categorizing human beings in them and then declaring certain categories don’t deserve civil rights. It’s a vile thing and the vast majority of Americans consider it such.

If someone should call you a racist for holding a political opinion or liking a certain candidate, make them define the word. Odds are they won’t even try. Antifa and its fellow-travelers want the definition to be arbitrary. They want it to be used only when it advances their agenda without people thinking about it.

For the snowflakes who may not been given an accurate depiction of American history in the public schools here is how a great man suggested we unify this country after a bloody war:

The Almighty has His own purposes. “Woe unto the world because of offenses; for it must needs be that offenses come, but woe to that man by whom the offense cometh.” If we shall suppose that American slavery is one of those offenses which, in the providence of God, must needs come, but which, having continued through His appointed time, He now wills to remove, and that He gives to both North and South this terrible war as the woe due to those by whom the offense came, shall we discern therein any departure from those divine attributes which the believers in a living God always ascribe to Him? Fondly do we hope, fervently do we pray, that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue until all the wealth piled by the bondsman’s two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said “the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.”

With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation’s wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan, to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations.
