Pitiable State Of Dino Propagandists

Pitiable State Of Dino Propagandists — The Philadelphia Inquirer, yesterday, Sunday Aug. 28, devoted the back page of the A section to an New York Times News Service article which it titled Irene Renews Debate Over Cause Of Change.

The article does not seem to be available at the Inky website, Philly.Com, so here is the first graf:

The scale of Hurricane Irene, which could cause more extensive damage on the Eastern Seaboard than any storm in decades, has revived an old question: Are hurricanes getting worse because of human-induced climate change?

The second paragraph was basically “yes” according to “many” scientists.

Now when one writes “could” one “could” write just about anything and still be technically accurate i.e. “my dog could fly if the laws of physics mysteriously changed.”
The magic of “could” is something one learns during the intense playground arguments of the  second grade.

Still, with  Hurricane Floyd occurring just a dozen years ago it was a silly thing to say. If one is making the claim of catastrophic climate change, does one really want one’s targets to remember the  storms of  past decades that spread havoc in the Northeast like Floyd or the Long Island Express of 1938 or Hurricane Agnes of 1972?

Really, when one’s goal is to convince one’s targets something new is occurring why allude to events that show it really is not?

But the real problem with the story, of course, is that it ran on the day the storm fizzled. They couldn’t just wait to be sure.

The truly great progressive propagandists like Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Goebbels would sneer with disgust at the new crew.

For your reference here is a link to a list of the great East Coast hurricanes.

Global Warming May Cause Alien Attack Says PSU Pundit

Global Warming May Cause Alien Attack Says PSU Pundit
We are Penn State!

Global Warming May Cause Alien Attack Says PSU Pundit — An astrobiologist affiliated with Penn State and NASA has co-written a paper suggesting signals to space  be curtailed since they might inspire aliens to attack us due to our slowness in dealing with global warming.

Shawn Domagal-Goldman, along with   fellow scientists Seth D. Baum, and Jacob D. Haqq-Misra, issue this dire warning in their paper Would contact with extraterrestrials benefit or harm humanity? A scenario analysis which is now making international news.

Granted these smart people posit possible positive contacts with ETs such as advancement in knowledge and such.

And they note that in the event of a hostile encounter we might heroically triumph over them or be saved via intervention by a second group of aliens.

And you kind of wonder how much tax money went into producing this stuff.

Those who support shoveling this money at Domagal-Goldman et al are the same ones who laugh at those who have expressed skepticism of evolution such as Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann.

It seem the less you fear God the more likely you are to fear  invisible men in the sky.

It should be noted that TV and radio broadcasts are among the signals we send into outer space.

Polar Bears Are Not Drowning

A keystone in the claim that gases produced in the production of energy are causing global warming has been shown to be laughably overblown.

Despite millions of public school children being taught it as an unquestionable truth.

The polar bears are not drowning as famously described in Al Gore’s Nobel-Prize-winning, Oscar-winning film An Inconvenient Truth.

Human Events is reporting that Charles Monnett,  the author of the study widely cited as establishing this as fact, has been placed on administrative leave from the U.S. Department of the Interior after serious problems were found with the earthshaking claims he made in his 2006 paper in Polar Biology regarding drowning polar bears.

It appears that Monnett’s claim was based on observing from a plane four, what-appeared-to-be-dead polar bears in the Beaufort Sea after a major windstorm, and assuming that they were dead, and had died from drowning, and had died from drowning due to be unable to reach pack ice.

The paper was peer reviewed but the reviewing was done by Monnett’s wife and a Canadian who is under investigation in his country regarding bias in his papers.

If one really thinks global warming is happening due to gases formed in the production of energy, start demanding that coal plants be replaced with nuclear ones and stop trying to rip down hydro-electric plants.

Otherwise let me have cheap gas for my pickup truck.

Pa. Wind Turbines Destroying Environment

Bats, as scary as they are to some, are one of the more useful mammals in creation. The diets of those species common in Pennsylvania consist of mosquitoes and other insect pests including the ones that damage crops.

A colony of 100 brown bats can consume of a quarter-million insects in a single night. Science magazine has estimated the pest control service provided by bats can save farmers about $74 per acre.

Well, the unattractive wind turbines built at the hectoring of  the nature worshipers who’ve managed to convince most that they are the arbiters of all dogma scientific are turning out to be a bit of an environmental disaster.

The 420 wind turbines in use in Pennsylvania  killed 10,000 bats last year.

The plans call for 2,900 turbines to be placed in the state by 2030 so figure on 72,000 less bats per year by then and 180 million more bugs.

And a lot more expensive tomatoes.

Meanwhile, nuclear power, which is probably the most environmentally friendly energy source, is constantly vilified by the nature worshiping pseudo-scientists and fear mongers with the talent to make you forget about a 9 magnitude earthquake and a 30-foot tsunami if a nuclear power plant can be blamed for something.

If the citizens of this nation don’t learn to turn a deaf ear to them we are going to find ourselves walking five-miles to work as their gardeners and bean pickers while living in thatched roofed huts.

18th Century Taverns, Traffic Snarls And Global Warming

After decades of trying to figure out what to do with the building, Delaware County, Pa. is almost ready to move its tourist department into the 18th Century Rose Tree Tavern in the county-owned Rose Tree Park in Upper Providence Township.

The county, in a typical display of its insecurity, calls the department the Brandywine Conference  and Visitors Bureau. It should be noted that the Brandywine River will now be 12 miles away from the new HQ  and the Brandywine Valley is an exceedingly small portion of the historically influential county.

Regardless, the historic building is now about to be put into use and we can now address the real issue. For 200-plus years, the building  had stood about 200 feet to the southwest which meant it was almost directly at the corner of Rose Tree  and Providence roads, the latter of which would become at that particular stretch the heavily traveled State Route 252.

Plans to install  desperately needed turn lanes were always squashed due to the complexities relating to the historic structure. This meant  long exhaust-emitting, gasoline-wasting traffic jams.

So it was moved back on Aug. 10, 2004 with PennDOT bearing the entire $1.25 million bill and fixing the jams became a simple thing.

So where are the turn lanes?

We have solar panels on the Springfield Library, we have brand new rails for the Route 101 trolley but we don’t have turn lanes at a infamous problem intersection the placement of which would have done far more to alleviate pollution — and achieve energy independence — than a hundred  feel-good  projects.

The refusal of “man-made global warming” activists to get involved in the mundane and practical solutions  — like unsnarling traffic — to their various complaints is just one more reason to doubt their sincerity.

When they get around to demanding the end of toll roads and bridges is when you can get around to considering buying a Chevy Volt.

Elwha Dam Or Why Global Warming Not Happening

Federal workers on Wednesday, June 1, will turn off the generators at the Elwha Dam on the Elwha River in Washington State and begin the largest dam removal project in U.S. history and probably world history since it is hard to imagine any other nation than Obama’s America doing anything this stupid.

Slated to be removed are the 105-foot Elwha Dam built in 1913 and the 210-foot Glines Canyon Dam eight -miles upstream built in 1927.

The cost to remove the dams and cut off greenhouse-gas-free electricity capable of supplying 1,700 homes is $324.7 million.

The idea is to save the noble and endangered salmon which you can buy at the fish counter of just about any supermarket in the nation.

One could sympathize with the dream of rivers filled with good eating game fish running free to the sea but if one really believed CO2 and other gases from the coal and natural gas power plants, which will inevitably be used to replace the hydro-electric ones, are going to destroy Planet Earth, one would think that one might have a different set of priorities.

One would think that such a person would fight to save these dams at least until a wind-powered, solar cold-fusion plant  becomes practical

But no, the same group that insists on privation to stop global warming insists on ripping down these dams.

Global warming is not happening. What is happening is a power play by those who are driven to rule others.

Respected Global Warming Skeptic Resigns From AccuWeather

The Feb 21 resignation of Joe Bastardi from AccuWeather is slowly creeping into the conscious of the politically aware.

Bastardi, one of the nation’s most respected meteorologist, had worked with the firm based in State College, Pa. He is a vocal critic of the claims about man-made global warming or anthropogenic global warming (AGW)

It is an irony that Bastardi worked in the same town as Penn State professor Michael Mann , the man-caused global warming proponent whose leaked emails in 2009 caused many to question global warming claims.

Democrats Love The Poor Which Is Why . . .

Democrats Love The Poor Which Is Why . . . — The Democrat Party loves the poor which is why it works so hard to create so many.

The price of oil is marching to $100 per barrel and the “party of compassion” bends over backwards to keep new drilling from occurring on American territory leaving the matter as almost the exclusive privilege of Islamic and socialist dictators.

“Climate change” regulations are estimated to be costing this country $10.6 million per day despite it becoming more and more evident the “climate change” crisis is a despicable hoax .

Meanwhile, construction of non-CO2-emitting nuclear power plants are stopped by Democrats while they advance the destruction of non-CO2-emitting hydro-electric dams.

Under health care “reform” the cost of health insurance is skyrocketing and Medicare is being cut .

The Democrat Party leaders love the poor so much they want us all to be poor.

Themselves excepted, of course.

On a definitely related matter, wealthy New York Times columnist and Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman, Thursday, wrote this article in which he said America was divided between greedy conservatives who don’t want to be taxed to help the poor and the enlightened ones such as himself.

He has it completely bassackwards. It’s the conservatives who give to charity and the vast majority of them do not have a problem with a social safety net.

It’s just they wonder why things like state tax dollars are used to fund propaganda like Democracy Now on Mind-TV.

It’s just that they wonder how exactly are tax-supported ACORN and Planned Parenthood part of a social safety net.

It’s that they wonder why Social Security has run a surplus for decades which is used to fund pensions, health plans and salaries for bureaucrats far, far, far more generous than those of the Social Security recipients.

And of course they wonder how a person who could make such a unsophisticated, ill-reasoned claim actually get a Nobel Prize.

OK, never mind on that last point.

Pa. Impoverishment Act Could Be In Tea Party’s Sights

The Pennsylvania Legislature jumped on the big green bandwagon in 2008 and overwhelmingly passed the Pennsylvania Impoverishment Act otherwise known as Act 129. The law mandates a 3 percent reduction in the retail consumption of  electricity — 4.5 percent for peak demand — by May 31, 2013 and creates an unelected commission that is empowered to make further demands as it sees fit.

The baseline is the electric power consumed between June 1, 2009 and May 31, 2010.

The idea isn’t to cut CO2 emissions by doing things such as replacing coal plants with nuclear plants or ending traffic bottlenecks. Nor is the plan to improve our lifestyles via increased energy efficiency in which less amount of energy will do the same amount of work causing us to have a financial windfall.

What the fools we elected to lead us plan for us is to raise the cost of electricity to such an extent that we have to watch our pennies as we ration the usage. In other words, we are all going to be much poorer. Well, not all. If you are going to get an automatic $1,300 raise you really aren’t going to worry too much about the rationing.

The final wording was passed by both houses on Oct. 8, 2008 at height of Obamamania and before it was revealed that much of the global warming movement was based on a hoax.

The bill was signed into law a week later by Gov. Rendell.

Only four House members — Maher, Reichly, Hutchinson, and Metcalf — voted against it, which was one more than the Senate dissenters who were  Folmer, Eichelberger, and Rhodes.

Bill Adolph who represents Springfield in the House did not participate in the final vote although he was an aye in the House’s initial passage that happened six months earlier. Ted Erickson who represents the township in the Senate was an aye.

Tea Party groups are expected to be making repeal of Act 129 a big part of their agenda. One activist who plans on making this so is Judy Brown who grew up in Havertown but now lives in Allegheny County and who is on the Republican State Committee.

“The nickname for this bill is Pa Cap and Trade,” she said. “While we are fighting this on the federal level our Pa. Legislature already passed it and only seven republicans voted against it.”

Pa Cap and Trade is a fine name, Judy, but I still prefer Pa. Impoverishment Act.

Jerry Coyne Shows How Faith Ruins Science

USAToday, today, in the tradition of Jacques-René Hébert gave a half-page of its not-so-valuable-anymore space to biology professor Jerry Coyne to describe the ways in which science is superior to faith.

Coyne, besides teaching evolution and ecology at the University of Chicago, is an outspoken atheist who believes the religious inhibit the progress of man, a view shared by many men of history like Hébert and Stalin and Mao and Pol Pot.

Coyne’s article is filled with irony.

“Science operates by using evidence and reason. Doubt is prized, authority rejected,” he says.

Unless one questions global warming or, cough, cough, evolution, of course. Don’t you teach evolution and ecology, Jerry? That would make it a double score for irony.

One could also describe as ironic the remarkable ignorance Coyne expresses in the name of enlightenment and reason. “Jews see Jesus as a prophet . . .,” he says. Really? Anything but.

But the most delicious irony is when he says this: “Science and faith are fundamentally incompatible” and, yes, he is right. So when he asserts  “we now know that the universe did not require a creator”, which is apparently  an appeal to the authority of physicist Stephen Hawkins who recently claimed such a conviction of a thing not seen, Coyne is expressing a blind faith. Such unreflective faith only ruins science by undermining the credibility of those who practice it properly.

Or as Coyne ironically cites physicist Richard Feynman: “The first principle is that you must not fool yourself, and you are the easiest person to fool.”

Francis Bacon, the founder of modern science, addressed the same tired complaints of atheists 400 or so years ago in his essay “Of Atheism.” If Coyne should want to read it it can be found here .

And a final point: Coyne says the Holocaust is something that should make a Christian lose his faith. Hitler, Mengele, and the rest of the Nazis were on your team, Jerry.  They wanted to destroy Christianity and they were the ones who accepted evolution . To find what Hitler believed about it do a search at the link for the word “evolution” with a space in front of the “e”.
