Holy Myrrh-Bearer Fall Flea Market Is Oct.7 — The Holy Myrrh-Bearer Fall Flea Market/Craft Fair was rained out Sept. 23 and has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 7, at the church, 900 Fairview Road, Swarthmore, Pa. 19081.
It runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Here are some scenes from Pirate Festival 2023 being held today, Sept. 16, at Marcus Hook Memorial Park on the Delaware River. Legend has it that Marcus Hook was an occasional abode of Blackbeard.
Demonstrations of cannon fire occurred hourly.
The pirate camp was a fun walkthrough with displays of muskets and cutlasses and other pirate gear.
Marcus Hook Pirate Fest Tomorrow –Avast matey, tomorrow, Sept. 16, is Marcus Hook Preservation Society’s Pirate Festival in the borough’s Memorial Park, 45 Delaware Ave., Marcus Hook, Pa. 19061.
It starts 11 a.m. and runs to 6 p.m.
The festival features a full pirate encampment with period tents, demonstrations and showcases their wares, firearms, cannons and beer making.
Also, there will be games, food, live pirate music, face painting, crafters, beer garden and much, much more. All funds raised go towards the ongoing restoration project of the historic Plank House, aka Blackbeard’s Mistress’s House.

Marcus Hook Pirate Fest Tomorrow
Candidates Town Hall Aug 3 — United4Delco will host a candidates town hall, 6-8 p.m., Aug. 3 at Gatsby’s Bar and Grill 4936 Pennell Road, Aston, Pa. 19014.
In attendance will be county-wide, local and school board candidates for the Nov. 7 election.
There will be free pizza.
Spaces Filling For HMB Fall Flea Market — Believe it or not spaces are quickly filling for Holy Myrrh-Bearers Parish’s Fall Community Flea Market/Craft Fair.
It’s 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sept. 23 at the church, 900 Fairview Road, Swarthmore, Pa. 19081.

Concerned Citizen Seminar July 22 — Donna Ellingsen will be leading a seminar, July 22, at Media VFW Post 3460, 22 Hilltop Ave.., Media, Pa. 19063 for concerned citizens interested in becoming political influencers.
It runs from 9 a.m. to noon.
“In just three hours we can introduce to you a real method for influencing your local government,” she says.
The seminar answers how we got into this mess, why are the choices so poor at election time, why don’t candidates stand up for values, and how do we get better people on the ballot.
“The strategy is not rocket science,” she says. “It does not demand a lot of your time. It is something every citizen can help with.”
There will be coffee and light refreshments before the seminar starts and during a break.
Donna is not accepting a fee but there will be a donation basket to help cover rental for the hall.

Phyllis Schlafly Eagles Awards Going To Allen West, Chris Stigall — Lt. Col. Allen B. West and radio host Chris Stigall are the this year’s recipients of Pennsylvania Phyllis Schlafly Eagle awards.
West, who retired from the Army in 2004, represented Florida’s 22nd congressional district from 2011 to 2013 and served as chairman of the Texas Republican Party from 2020 to 2021. He will be getting the Phyllis Schlafly American Patriot Award.
Stigall was a long-time host at WPHT and now appears from 6 to 9 a.m. on AM990 along with his own The Chris Stigall Podcast. He will be receiving the Phyllis Schlafly Truth in Journalism Award.
A ceremony will be May 11 at the Marriott Philadelphia West, 111 Crawford Ave., West Conshohocken, Pa. 19428.
There will be a VIP reception from 5 -6 p.m. with the dinner event going from 6 to 10 p.m.
Cost is $150 for a single dinner ticket, $250 for a VIP ticket and $1,400 for a table of 10. Tickets for Republican committee members are $135.
