Jean Ziv of Springfield, Pa. died in her sleep at her home, July 28. She was 99.
A service will be held 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 2 at Har Yehuda Cemetery, 8400 Lansdowne Ave., Upper Darby, Pa. 19082 at Lot 3.
She was a great lady and great neighbor and will be missed.
Judith Reisman Revealed Kinsey Pedophilia Push— Dr. Judith Reisman, who revealed the evil behind the pseudo-scientific justification for massive cultural changes relating to sexual behavior, died, April 8.
She was 86.
Mrs. Reisman was a happy wife and mother until her 10-year-old daughter was raped by a 13-year-old family friend in 1966. The boy thought she’d like it based on things he had read in his father’s Playboy.
At her daughter’s urging , she did not call police.
She did tell her staid, conservative aunt though.
“Well Judy, she may have been looking for this herself. Children are sexual from birth,” the aunt said.
Mrs. Reisman called her friend Carole from Berkeley.
“Well Judy, she may have been looking for this herself,” Carole told her. “You know children are sexual from birth.”
These pod-people-like replies from different parts of the country shocked and confused her.
Mrs. Reisman would go on to produce music-videos for public television and then Captain Kangaroo. She left Captain K, which she respected, after pressure to speed up the music in ways she thought unwise. She then pursued a doctorate in communications at Case Western Reserve University where she studied the effects of television. To her surprise, it was already well-understood that by 1972 TV was toxic.
The industry, however, was actively hiding the data.
This led her to investigate the effects of pornography on women, which was also doing damage and also being hidden.
This led her to investigate child pornography in, by now, mainstream publications like Playboy and Penthouse. It was widespread.
So why was it accepted?
She was tipped to investigate Alfred Kinsey, whose Kinsey Reports led to the Sexual Revolution.
She found that Kinsey was a pedophile who molested children for data, and that conclusions he made from these molestations were extraordinarily unfounded.
She was naturally attacked but unnaturally she weathered them.
Mrs. Reisman died 10 days after taking her second Covid-19 vaccination shot. The Reisman Institute says “It is believed that she suffered a stroke. There is NO KNOWN correlation between Judith’s stroke and the COVID vaccine.“
Just the same, vaccines work by making one a little sick to prevent serious illness. If one should be in a category where even being a little sick presents a danger, maybe one should think twice about the vaccine.
Joe Scheidler passed away, Jan. 18, at the age of 93.
He was a pioneer in the pro-life movement.
Shortly after the infamous Roe v. Wade decision in 1973, Joe became a pro-life activist – ultimately founding the Pro-Life Action League in 1980 with his wife, Ann.
Joe’s groundbreaking work inspired a generation of sidewalk counselors and pro-life advocates.
His 1985 pro-life activists’ manual, “CLOSED: 99 Ways to Stop Abortion”, put pro-lifers throughout the United States and the world to work effectively fighting abortion.
Because of his hard work and ultra-effective advocacy, the National Organization for Women and two abortion clinics filed a RICO racketeering lawsuit against Joe.
The resulting legal saga in NOW v. Scheidler saw the founding of the Thomas More Society to defend Joe against a lawsuit that lasted for nearly 30 years and went before the Supreme Court three times, finally resulting in a unanimous victory for Joe and the pro-life movement.
Joe Scheidler was truly a larger than life leader for nearly 40 years – working each and every day to save the lives of the unborn.
Joe will be deeply missed by all those who knew him and those whose lives he saved.
Without Joe, the Thomas More Society likely wouldn’t exist, and the pro-life movement certainly wouldn’t look the same.
On behalf of the Thomas More Society, I’d like to offer my condolences to Joe’s family, including his wife Ann, who still serves as the Chairman of our Board. Joe’s contributions were unmatched, and the world has been changed because of his work.
May he rest in peace.
Dear friend Helen Abbruzzesi Weber died, Dec. 24. Here is her obituary from Donohue Funeral Home:
Helen Abbruzzesi Weber, age 82, of West Chester, PA was peacefully carried home to be with her Lord and Savior on Dec. 24, after battling cancer. She was born July 29, 1938 in Chester to the late Louis Abbruzzesi and Dorothy Abbruzzesi. Helen is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, John Henry Weber; her daughters: Lisa M. Esler (Chip), Donna J. Caudell (David), Paula J. Stiles, and Jaclyn A. Gregory; her grandchildren: Joshua King, Brittany Robinson, Cameron Stiles, Drew Gregory, Ryan Gregory, and Ashlynn Gregory, and her great grandchildren, Giovanna Lord, and Abel and Mercy King.
Helen was a born-again Christian and was very politically active in her community. Over the years she worked in property management, but her most important job was that of wife and mother. She loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed shopping and going to the beach. Helen was a giving person who always looked after those around her, especially her girls. Helen will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, at Faith Community Baptist Church in Downingtown, PA. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects beginning at 10 am, followed by her service at 11 am. Burial at Philadelphia Memorial Park Cemetery. Old friend Gene Herman died Nov. 29. He was 81 and worked as a reporter at the Philadelphia Evening Bulletin for more than 25 years being there for its closing on Jan. 29, 1982.

On Nov. 29, Martin “Gene” J. Herman, age 81 of Haddon Township passed away at Cooper University Hospital. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Gene graduated from North Catholic High School in the Class of 1956. After graduation, he attended LaSalle College before going to work at the Philadelphia Bulletin, covering business and labor for over 25 years until the paper closed in 1982. He then worked for the State of New Jersey as the Director of Communications for the Department of Labor and later as the Deputy Press Secretary for the Governor’s Office under Christie Whitman, retiring in 2000. A resident of Haddon Township, NJ for 57 years, he also maintained a summer home in Brigantine, NJ, for the past 50 years where he loved spending time with his family, especially his 10 grandchildren, and writing the City of Brigantine’s Newsletter for several years.
Gene is the beloved husband of 60 years to Regina A. (nee Iorio). He is the devoted father of Regina Ann (Thomas) Muccifori, Martin J. (Gabrielle) Herman, Michael J. Herman, Mary Margaret (Dan) Gannon and the late Patrick J. Herman. He is the cherished grandfather of Tommy and Caroline Muccifori; Ann, Elizabeth, Katherine, Patrick and Madeleine Herman; Timothy, Christopher and Alison Gannon. He is the dear brother of the late Walter (late, Dorothy) Herman; Helene (late, John) McIntyre, Regina (Al) Fazio and Anthony Herman. Gene is also lovingly survived by 19 nieces and nephews as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday from 9 – 10:30 a.m. at the Healey Funeral Home, 9 White Horse Pike, Haddon Heights, NJ. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 11 a.m. at Saint Rose of Lima Church, 4th Avenue and Kings Highway, Haddon Heights. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chews Landing, NJ. Sarabelle Salsburg R.I.P. — It’s been a lousy few weeks. Another old friend died. Sarabelle Salsburg, the mother of author Jim Waltzer whom you might have seen mentioned here, died Sept. 26 of end-stage kidney disease. She was 93 and remained semi-independent until a few months ago according to Jim.
Sarabelle (nee Mazer) was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and, as a teenager, lived for several years in Atlantic City before attending the University of Pittsburgh (where she trained to be a nurse during World War II) and then Penn State, where she met her first husband. She was a longtime resident of Newtown Square.
She is survived by Jim, of Chesterbrook, and his brother David (Julie) Salsburg of Phoenix, and grandchildren Nicole, Lauren, and Jordan Salsburg.
We remember her as a woman of intelligence, charm and absolutely impeccable artistic taste.

Don Gilmore of Chester died Aug. 21 of cancer. He was 64. He served in the Army and Army Reserves. He had been employed by Fed Ex for 21 years.
He is survived by his brother John and sister Arlene and others.
He was a smart guy and we had many a long conversation about whatever topic happened to pop in our heads. He was one of my favorite people and I will miss him.
Antoinette O’Brien died Aug. 27. She was 96 and grew up at the Dante School and Orphanage in Concord, Pa.
As a girl, she was close to Dr. Horace Hillborn Darlington of the prominent Darlington family, said Mrs. O’Brien’s daughter Lorraine Moretti.
Dr. Darlington was the physician for the children at the school and had also donated the land for the Concord Fire Co.
During World War II, Mrs. O’Brien served as a WAC.
She will be buried 12:10 p.m., tomorrow, Aug. 30 at Beverly Veterans Cemetery in New Jersey with graveside military honors.
Senator John McCain, Rest In Peace — If you haven’t heard Sen. John McCain died today, Aug. 25, 2018.
His death occurred 9 years to the day of that of Ted Kennedy. To McCain’s credit, Theodore Edgar McCarrrick will not be speaking at his funeral unlike that of Kennedy.
I actually liked McCain and remember him starting his 2008 presidential campaign at the Springfield Country Club. I walked in with a big camera bag and to my shock they just waved me through. I entered the spot for the national press pool photographers and stayed there the whole time — without credentials — despite their unfriendly comments.
Security was not an issue. I could have smacked him on his knee a dozen times.
R.I.P. senator. I still wish you had won.
Kenneth J. Miesmer, 71, of Garnet Valley, PA (formerly of West Hartford, CT), died at home, surrounded by loved ones, in the early morning hours on Saturday, May 19.
Born on Feb. 21, 1947, he was the son of the late Robert and Marjorie Miesmer.
Ken graduated from LaSalle High School in Cumberland, MD and attended the University of Maryland. He graduated from Central Connecticut State University. Ken was employed by The Travelers Insurance Company for 25 years, and was also employed as a consultant by Price Waterhouse Coopers and IBM.
Ken is survived by his wife, Mary (Parsons); his daughters, Sharon (Kevin) Murphy of Mount Royal, NJ; Maureen Miesmer (Joshua Hurvitz) of Washington, DC; his brother, Thomas (Susan) of Melbourne, FL; his sister, Kathryn (Bruce) Atwood of Shoreham, VT. In his retirement, Ken most enjoyed time spent with family and friends, and he was able to live fully in the lives of his four beloved grandchildren: Jack and Kellen Murphy, and Matthew and Anna Hurvitz.
He was a vocal cheerleader at his grandsons’ baseball games, spent hours inventing with them in his workshop, and loved reading to his “princess” and taking her out for milkshakes. Ken is also survived by five nieces and nephews, three great-nieces, and two great-nephews. Ken was also actively involved throughout his life in The Boy Scouts of America, both during his time in West Hartford and most recently as Advancement Chair for Pack 59 in East Greenwich, NJ.
At his request, his remains were donated to the Humanity Gifts Registry of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
A memorial service will be held at a time convenient for his family. Ken was also pre-deceased by his very dear friend, Ron Foley.
With the hope that someday cures may be found for both pancreatic cancer and rheumatoid arthritis, memorial donations may be made to either The Ron Foley Foundation (www.ronsrun.org) or The Arthritis Foundation (www.arthritis.org). During this brief period of illness, Ken was cared for by the medical staff at Chester County Hospital, the Jefferson Washington Township Hospital, Neighborhood Health Hospice Services, and the Pennsylvania Agency of Nurses. His family is deeply grateful for the kindness, compassion, and care shown to Ken and his loved ones during this difficult time.
