Obama Unites Israel, Egypt

Shaaban Abdel Rahim Obama Unites Israel, Egypt
Egyptian singer Shaaban Abdel Rahim, who is best known for his hit “I Hate Israel”, has a new song accusing Barack Obama of supporting Hamas and ISIS.

Maybe Barack Obama deserves his Nobel Peace Prize after all.  He seems to have done the impossible and unite the Israelis and Egyptians.

Below is popular Egyptian singer Shaaban Abdel Rahim — whose breakthrough hit was “I Hate Israel” — accusing our president of supporting ISIS and the Palestinian terror group Hamas.

The lyrics include: We don’t want anything from you Obama. Now the people of Egypt know that you are the man of ISIS and Hamas and Obama your trick is now clear. Go to Qatar and Turkey, your allies. God bless the Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. They stood by us in our bad time.

We think Rudy Giuliani would say the same thing  if he  could rhyme rhythmically.

Philadelphia Inquirer Tries, Fails

Today’s front page of The Philadelphia Inquirer featured a rousing, inspiring  article concerning the response by the French to the Jan. 7 terrorist attacks which included the murders of 12 staff members at the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.

It triumphantly noted that 5 million copies of the first post-attack edition of the magazine — again with an image of Mohammed on the front page — quickly sold out as throngs lined up pre-dawn at newsstands to buy one.

The rousing, inspiring article was missing just one thing. This:

Philadelphia Inquirer Tries, Fails Mohammed Je Suis Charlie Hebdo

Yes, the actual image, which is the only honest way of expressing solidarity with the unbowed.

We have to grade the Inky’s attempt at journalistic courage a failure. Still, we give them a half-point (well, quarter-pointer, OK tenth of a point) for trying.

The Inquirer also carried an interesting article concerning Pope Francis’ take on the controversy which is that speech should be free but used wisely i.e. don’t look for stupid fights, respect the religious views of others etc. and we agree completely.

As we had not heard of Charlie Hebdo until last week, and do not speak French hence cannot fairly put in context images we have seen on the web, we can’t speak to what it had published in the past.

We can, however, say that this week’s cover showing a tearful Mohammed expressing remorse at what was done in his name with the victims saying “All is forgiven” is the epitome of the wise use of free speech.

Shame the Inquirer didn’t have the guts to show its readers.

Mohammed Suis Charlie

Mohammed Suis Charlie

Credit goes to where it belongs. Above is the cover of the next edition of Charlie Hebdo, the satirical French magazine where 12 staffers — including some of the nation’s most famous cartoonists — were gunned down by Muslim fanatics on Jan. 7.

It’s an image of Mohammed, crying, while holding a Je Suis Charlie sign. The headline translates to “All is Forgiven”.

That’s about as gutsy and classy as one can get in publishing.

Will the Philadelphia Inquirer run the cover? The Delaware County Daily Times? Will it appear unpixelated on the local news?

Will President Obama condemn it as inflammatory and seek to arrest those responsible for it?

It remains to be seen.

Kudos Charlie Hebdo.

Charlie Hedbo Attack Shows Why 1st Amendment Needs 2nd

Gunmen shouting “Allahu akbar” attacked  the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo killing at least 12 — including two police officers — and wounding four.

The Islamic attackers used a Kalashnikov  — that’s a real assault rife — and a rocket launcher.

So much for gun control.

The attack occurred  11:30 this morning, Jan. 7, Central European Time which is about five hours ago.

Charlie Hebdo  drew the ire of Islam when it re-printed  in 2006 these Jyllands-Posten cartoon depictions of Mohammed.

Charlie Hedbo Attack Shows Why First Amendment Needs Second

It doubled down in September 2012 when it published cartoons of a naked Mohammed in response to protests over the low-budget film “Innocence of Muslims”.

Last week, it featured French author Michel Houellebecq whose latest book “Submission” imagines a France in the near future ruled by an Islamic government.

Can such an attack happen here, say at Comedy Central?

Well, our hipsters — unlike, we love the irony, the French — aren’t known for their courage.  The objects of their mocking are specifically picked for objecting to violence hence their avoidance of all things Islamic

However, bullies sense weakness and it doesn’t take much of an excuse for them to resort to inflicting pain so cravenness in the end provides no protection.

Our suggestions are firstly to stop mocking things held sacred. The Jyllands-Posten cartoons were not mocking Islam. They were standing up to bullies and standing up for a value system. Mocking would be making an image of Mohammed out of dung or dropping one in a jar of urine. Doing such does not make one a hero but merely  a jerk. One can tell the truth or dispute another without resorting to mocking.

Secondly, understand that there are those who feel they are ordained to rule and have no compunction about forcing you to do their bidding. They must be fought. This means the First Amendment needs the Second. A rocket launcher is not a great means of self defense but if some of the staff at Charlie Hebdo were packing pistols, the death toll would be a lot less and the perpetrators would not be now likely planning their next attack.

And by now it should be apparent that government gun control does not work.

Thirdly, for my Muslim readers “Allahu akbar” means God is greatest. Yes, God is greatest. He doesn’t need some  loser wannabe defending Him.

France Hates Jews

Reader Tom C sent us this link to a FrontPageMag.com article regarding France’s strange Dec. 30 vote in support of a United Nation’s resolution calling for Israel to withdraw to its indefensible 1967 borders.

The resolution did not get the required nine votes and hence failed, sparing the U.S. from having to cast a veto.

Still, there was no reason for the French to have voted aye. Note they voted aye. They didn’t simply abstain as five other nations did.

The article notes Jews are fleeing the country in droves and that France had  antisemitism even when it didn’t have a significant Muslim population.

Congo Residents Eat Muslim Terrorist

Reuters reports that the residents of Beni in the Congo captured a member of the Muslim terrorist group ADF-NAUL that has been tormenting their community.

They killed him.

They cooked him.

Then they ate him.

“There is no question of negotiation with the terrorists,” said Congo President Joseph Kabila.

And the poor babies at Gitmo think they have it bad.

Obama Performance No Fireside Chat

Last evening the American people were yet again treated to a performance given by President Obama. His speech used the usual collection of patriotic catch phrases to win over the audience to his much anticipated “strategy” for ending the genocide in the middle east. It was not a strategy. It was a political check list. Consult with Congress, check. Consult with UN, check. Consult with military advisers, oops.

His robot-like persona struggled uncomfortably to use American euphemisms in the right context. Think Mork from Ork on meth. Thirteen years after September 11 he remains incapable of projecting an understanding of American culture and honor. If he’s got it, he’s doing a hell of a job of hiding it.

Note to constitutional professor: America is a republic. Mysteriously they didn’t teach that anywhere between the madrasah and Harvard. Pretty sure they taught it at one of Sarah Palins alma maters. Read the text in parcels; spare yourself the audio. Only so much pomposity and pretense can be digested at one sitting.

He’s no FDR. This was no fireside chat. It was a campaign promise. It was a gift for those Democrat incumbents struggling to hold on to their Senate seats in Novembers mid term elections. THIS is his priority. Avoiding telegraphing his punches to a deadly enemy for the safety and success of our military is not.

Its purposes were devoid of connection to the realistic needs of a REPUBLIC under threat. His dishonesty and duplicity were breathtaking;

“And our own safety, our own security, depends upon our willingness to do what it takes to defend this nation and uphold the values that we stand for –- timeless ideals that will endure long after those who offer only hate and destruction have been vanquished from the Earth.”

versus

“It will not involve American combat troops fighting on foreign soil.”

McCain Spanks Carney

Many conservatives hate Sen. John McCain, but, immigration issues aside, he’s always been someone I’ve kind of liked.

His first campaign stop after winning the 2008 Republican nomination,  may have been the Springfield (Pa) Country Club.  I went to write it up and take pictures. I was waved into the hall. Nobody bothered to ask for identification or check my briefcase.

I found a spot in the press section but McCain was too far away for my inexpensive digital camera so I imposed myself in the pool photographers section and and ended up maybe two feet from where the Senator was speaking.

I got some nasty comments from the pool photogs but again, nobody checked my ID, and no big guys hauled me out of there. I could have smacked McCain on his knee a dozen times.

Anyway, I always thought his attitude was gutsy and unpretentious and I didn’t feel bad about voting for him in the fall.

Which brings up the debate he had on CNN last night, Sept. 10, with former Obama press poodle Jay Carney after the President’s speech on dealing with the breakdown in Middle East.

McCain spanked Carney. He called him on the lies he was spewing and pointed out harshly how it was Obama himself that was responsible for the turmoil.

It was clearly something Carney was not used to. If the press did what McCain did last night the world would not be as dangerous today.

Of course, if McCain won in 2008 that would be just as true.

Here is the video. It’s kind of appropriate for Sept. 11.

Comcast Helps Little Guy?

Comcast Building Lobby Comcast Helps Little Guy?

The lobby of the Comcast Building in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia-based Comcast, the world’s largest communications company, wants to become even larger by spending $45.2 billion to buy Time Warner Cable and become even larger.

It is telling those who must approve this monopolizing move that such a merger would be good for the little guy — the independent channels like RFD-TV and Veria Living.

The little guys generally think otherwise.

“It sounds wonderful. But when you peel back the onion . . . it’s really nothing at all,” said  Patrick Gottsch of RFD-TV. “Very few [independent] channels have full distribution, other than BBC World News and Al Jazeera.”

Which leads to another question: why does Al Jazeera, a propagandist site for terrorists, get full distribution?

Wonder if Congress is taking testimony about Comcast’s customer service.

Obama Admin JV Team

President Obama in January compared the terrorist group Islamic State of Syria and Iraq (ISIS) to a JV team wearing the uniforms of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Yesterday, Aug. 22, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said regarding ISIS: They are beyond just a terrorist group. They marry ideology, a sophistication of strategic and tactical military prowess. This is beyond anything we have seen, and we must prepare for everything. And the only way you do that is that you take a cold, steely hard look at it and get ready.

It appears the JV team wearing the Lakers uniform was not in the Mideast.

A year from now there will hardly be a person in the nation who will admit to having voted for this guy.
