Dwight Davis was the Secretary of War in the Coolidge Administration and won the Distinguished Service Cross in World War I.

But that’s not why his name is recognized today.

In 1900, he started a lawn tennis tournament that would become the largest international tennis competition. It is now known as the Davis Cup.
