Gwangbokjeol William Lawrence Sr Omnibit 8-15-18 

Gwangbokjeol — which means “the day the light has returned” — occurs Aug. 15 and is the only public holiday celebrated in both Koreas. Actually North Korea calls it Liberation of the Fatherland Day. It commemorates the surrender of Japan in World War II and the liberation of the peninsula from its tyrannical rule.
