Joe Peters Backs Shapiro

Joe Peters Backs Shapiro
Josh Shapiro, puppet master of hacks.

Joe Peters Backs Shapiro — Joe Peters, who we like and backed as attorney general candidate back in April, has said he will vote for Democrat Josh Shapiro on Nov. 8 rather than State Sen. John Rafferty (R-44) who beat him for the Republican nomination.

We see his point but vehemently disagree. In a race between a hack and his puppet master, the hack will always do less damage in office.

Rafferty is a hack.  Shapiro is the guy who pulls the strings.

Make it easy this year. Just hit the R button.

  1. I nearly always agree with Bill, but …. I do agree that Mr. Shapiro is a puppet master and that his opponent is a hack who will do the bidding of the Republican establishment.

Here is the “but”: the most urgent need is to destroy the corrupt, incompetent, self dealing Republican establishment. The only thing that might (emphasize might) work is weakening the establishment by (1) letting the decent people know how incompetent they are and (2) strangling them by preventing them from having their hack give them patronage jobs and the like. So weaken them I will try to do. Puppet master for Attorney General.

    1. Stradley Ronon — to which belong Democrat Josh Shapiro, who runs Montgomery County, and Republican Val DiGiorgio, who runs Chester County — is a far, far, greater threat to the body politic than a guy who sleeps with the trade unions.

BTW, DiGiorgio is looming to be the state GOP Chairman. Imagine DiGirogio as Pennsylvania GOP Chairman and Shapiro as state attorney general.

Stradley Ronon will be like General Zod. Kneel, kneel before Stradley Ronon.

      1. Bill, but that’s the point. Stradley Ronon is one of the big problems. But if you elect Rafferty, he will be the man servant for DiGiorgio (and Stradley Ronon), so how does that help? And that give DiGiorgio cover –he is getting his dirty deals from a “Republican,” Rafferty. If Shapiro wins, DiGiorgio has no cover, it is obvious to anyone paying attention.

          1. Well it is all academic anyway. Rafferty has next to no chance of defeating Shapiro. Don’t forget, in spite of a number of landslide Republican years everywhere else on earth, the PA Republican party hasn’t won a statewide election in about 5 years. And that is a lot of defeats for Senate, Governor, State Row offices and Appeals Judges.

          2. Bob, the way it is supposed to work is that the ones on the outside watch the ones on the inside to make sure they don’t cross any lines.

Now, if the one on the outside’s loyalty is to the same entity as the one on the inside rather than to the constituency that votes for him that would be perfect cover for ignoring the constituency’s wishes as the constituency would presume the outsider would jump on the insider if given a chance and the insider would bring charges against the outside if an opportunity is seen.

      2. Exactly. Stradley Ronon wins no matter who is the Attorney General. We are being played by Val DiGiorgio and the Establishment consultants.

    2. “Stradley Ronon — to which belong Democrat Josh Shapiro, who runs Montgomery County, and Republican Val DiGiorgio, who runs Chester County — is a far, far, greater threat to the body politic than a guy who sleeps with the trade unions”.

      Can it get any worse?

      1. Bob, agreed, the establishment “Republican” bosses have long horizons and they wait out the reformers and the decent, good people who vote Republican. We need the long horizon too. If it takes electing Democrats to beat the phony, in it for themselves establishment so be it.

  2. And right again, Freedom lover, the Rs are both self-serving and incompetent and have lost every statewide race in the last five years, including the race for governor.

    1. Bob, and not only did the “self-serving and incompetent” Republican party have an incumbent PA governor lose for the first time in decades, but he lost as the ONLY incumbent statewide Republican in the country in 2014. Now that is a real achievement. Yes, the gang that can’t shoot straight manages that. The only time Val DiGiorgio and his ilk and cronies manage to shoot straight is when they shoot at Republicans who work hard and do it for the right reasons (not to enrich themselves or their friends.
