The richest company in history was The Dutch East India Co. which was in 1637 the equivalent of $7.4 trillion in today’s money. It lost a lot of its value that year, however, because it over-invested in tulip bulbs. It easily survived, though, and remained in business until 1800. The richest company today is Saudi Aramco with a value of $3.6 trillion.
