Robert Wadlow of Alton Ill., at almost 9-feet, was the tallest person ever recorded. Officially, he was 8-feet, 11.1 inches. He died in 1940 at the age of 22. Bone fragments found in Castelnau-le-Lez, France, however, indicate that someone may have reached 11-feet, 6-inches back in Neolithic times.
