The great presidents were not great drinkers. Washington liked dark porter laced with molasses but refrained from the hard stuff. Lincoln drank water. Reagan mostly stuck to wine.
The not-so-great-presidents, well, Franklin Pierce died of cirrhosis of the liver at age 65. He reportedly said “what can an ex-president of the United States do except get drunk?”
