There has been an epidemic of drivers traveling the wrong way while going south on North Rolling Road in Springfield Pa at Windsor Circle.
The township has placed three “Do Not Enter” signs and two one-way signs where North Rolling forks around Windsor Circle. The plagues continues, however, and now we can reveal why.
One confused motorist made the turn around the traffic island, saw the signs and asked for help.
It was her GPS that was sending her that way she said. Apparently the various services don’t realize the road forks.
This story highlights two things to me.
One is that traffic circles, while they may appear chic to Boomers, their kids, and various suburbanites, they’re not as good as good ol’ intersections, whatever the Brits and other Europeans may do. And too many people here don’t know how to deal with them.
The other is that too many people are dependent on that damn’ GPS, and end up like Michael Scott when he drove into “Lake Scranton”. For God’s sake, people, use your damn’ eyes and your damn’ sense, and don’t rely on a freakin’ piece of software! If the power grid were to go down, you’d all die because you wouldn’t know what to do.
