The Wife Of Jesus

The usual suspects — The New York Times and MSNBC — are citing a patch of 4th Century parchment identified by Karen L. King of the Harvard Divinity School  as an indication that Jesus had a wife.

The 4th Century is 300 years plus after the birth of Christ. To put it in perspective what the reporters are doing is no different than implying that  something that was written an hour ago is definitive about the life of William Penn.
Much of the stuff from the 4th Century was kicked out of the canon that we now know as the New Testament,  all of which can be sourced to the actual lifetimes of the Apostles.
And it is not as though Jesus never used a family reference in a non-literal sense.
Maybe New York Times reporters should stop looking for hidden knowledge and just become aware of the things that are in plain view.

Anti-Romney Vid Was Edited

The video that appeared to show Mitt Romney displaying a lack of concern for the needy has apparently been edited to make the GOP presidential contender look bad.

Breitbart.Com is reporting that Mother Jones, the leftist magazine that made the video public will not/can not release the full version as it had been challenged to do by the Romney campaign, and as it has promised that it would.
“According to the source, the recording device inadvertently turned off,” said David Corn, who is the magazine’s Washington bureau chief.  “The source noticed this quickly and turned it back one [sic]. The source estimates that one to two minutes, maybe less, of recording was missed.”
Inadvertently turned off. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
People, these people are bad news. They will lie and destroy the lives of others for political power and material gain. If you want to be a slave, support the people they support.

Busy Weekend For The President

With the world in flames, President Obama had a busy weekend.

White House reporter Amy E. Gardner tweeted:

The Evolution Of The Democratic Party

Mitt Romney notes that said that Obama automatically gets 47 percent of the vote because that’s the number of Americans who have let themselves become dependent on government. Basically he was saying ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.

And what did the Dems do when they heard that? They threw a fit. Times change.

Really? A Half-Century!

I’m attending my 50th high school reunion later this week. I’ve never attended one of these, but the 50th seemed…well, kind of special, so I really want to do this.
I’ve lost track of most all of the 550 guys I graduated from Father Judge with, except a few who, like me, were career Philly cops.
Some turned out to be doctors, some realtors, some business executives, some career military, some teachers—all honorable, productive ways to earn a living and spend a lifetime.
And a few have become priests. One of those priests is now the principal of the school, so it’s his 50th reunion also, which makes this even more special.
When looking at the “before and after” photos that are now on the reunion Web site, I’m amazed at how many of the class of 62 kept their hair! I find this particularly annoying since in my graduation photo, it looks like I’m wearing a toupee. And it’s remarkable how realistic my toupee looked back in 1962!
I’m curious to find out how meeting up with this group is going to affect my emotional status. Am I going to feel old? Young? Good about myself? Or perhaps not so?
This may turn out to be a “zero-sum” proposition, in that I’ll feel as good about myself as I believe the others should feel bad about themselves. And doesn’t that sound terribly selfish!
There is of course a danger in all this. One can take this all too seriously, instead of what it is: just a bash were a bunch of senior citizens get together and reminisce about when they were merelyseniors.
All-in-all, I kind of think it’s going to be fun, interesting, and ultimately enlightening. Who knows, I may find some new friends.
Seriously! I could get to know some of those long-ago acquaintances in a new and improved light—a light enhanced by maturation.

Supremes Return Voter ID To Judge Who Upheld The Law

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court an hour ago sent the photo-voter ID law back to Commonwealth Court Judge  Robert Simpson to determine by Oct. 2 whether the the procedures being used for deployment” of ID card comports with the law as written, and if not, enter an injunction blocking the law from being enforced.

Is this a good sign or bad sign for the good guys?
Well, the decision was 4-2 with Democrat Max Baer joining Republicans Ronald Castille, Thomas Saylor and Michael Eakin in the majority with Democrats Seamus McCaffery and Debra McCloskey Todd writing a blistering dissent.

Town Hall With Corbett

WPHT radio talk show host Dom Giordano will hold a town hall with Gov. Tom Corbett, 8-9:30 tomorrow (Sept. 19) evening at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, reports Independence Hall Tea Party PAC. There is free parking behind the building. 

Military Action Against Tea Party Is Pondered

Military action against the Tea Party is pondered.

Really.

A retired colonel who is now a seminar leader at the University of Foreign Military and Cultural Studies at Fort Leavenworth, KS and once directed the School of Advanced Military Studies  has written an article for Small Wars Journal in which he describes a scenario where the U.S. military is used domestically.
The villains are “‘tea party’ insurrectionists” who take over Darlington, S.C. with “support from other  tea party groups, militias, racist organizations such as the Ku Klux Klan, anti-immigrant associations such as the Minutemen, and other right-wing groups.“
The article is “Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland: A ‘Vision’ of the Future” by Col. Kevin Benson (ret.) and Jennifer Weber.
Matt Bracken, an author and former Navy SEAL, wrote a response: “What I Saw At The Coup“. 
Bracken’s  piece is much better written, but, while designed to provoke an emotional reaction, is no where near as troubling as the piece by Benson and Ms. Weber, which reveals a mindset that those who hold power are not merely out-of-touch with reality but quite willing to consider violence against fellow citizens who have political views they don’t share.
If they are really out to get you, you are not paranoid.

A quarter of Americans can’t vote. 

Stifle the outrage though.
A quarter of a Americans are under the age of 18 according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
