Consumer Tip Of The Day

Angus is a breed of beef cattle. In fact, it is the most popular beef breed  in the United States. A supermarket can label any cut from an Angus cattle as Angus beef.

“Certified Angus Beef” is a different subject. This is an actual standard created in 1978 by The American Angus Association. To qualify, cattle must be 51 percent black, exhibit Angus “influence” and meet a list of 10 criteria including a higher degree of marbling, a 10 to 16 square inch ribeye area; less than 1-inch fat thickness, less than 1,000-pound carcass weight and a neck hump not exceeding two inches.

Pa. Makes It Easy For Photo ID Voting Cards

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has free Department of State Voter ID cards for registered voters  in need of photo identification for voting, said State Rep. Jim Cox (R-129). The  cards can be gotten at driver license centers across the Commonwealth.

They are available to registered voters who do not have another photo ID acceptable for voting, who do not possess all of the documentation required to obtain a free PennDOT non-driver photo ID, and cannot obtain the needed documentation.

To obtain a Department of State Voter ID card, a registered voter must complete an oath affirming he or she does not have acceptable identification and then provide a name; address; Social Security number; proof(s) of residence, such as a utility bill; county; and previous name and/or address if changed within the past 12 months. After confirming a voter’s identity and registration with the Department of State, the registered voter will then be issued a Department of State Voter ID card valid only for voting purposes for 10 years.

Act 18 of 2012 requires all registered voters to present valid photo identification before casting a ballot in every primary and general election in Pennsylvania.

Dems Now Want Cardinal Dolan For Benediction

Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan of New York who gave the benediction, Thursday, at the Republican Party National Convention has been invited to do the same by the Democrats and in a spirit of Christian charity he has accepted.

Maybe he’ll offer to do an exorcism while he’s there.
Hopefully, the Cardinal will give the same prayer which was a not very well veiled condemnation of what Obama and the Democrats have been doing over the last four years.
The Dem’s convention, which will be in Charlotte, N.C., ends Sept. 6.
The Diocese of Charlotte, by the way, will be hanging on buildings it owns just feet from the convention site a 6-by-10-foot banner proclaiming “Religious Liberty, The Soul of Democracy” and a 6-by-27-foot banner declaring “Protect the Unborn, Defend Marriage, Safeguard Religious Liberty”.
Only a self-hating Catholic could even think about voting Democrat at this point.

So, Was Holder Lying Then Or Is ‘Torture’ Now OK?

There is an tendency — exponentially more prevalent among the followers of Saul Alinsky than those who consider him to be a Satan-worshipper — to make definitive claims about political opponents without much concern about whether they are true.
This is not the same as sincerely believing a dubious claim and spouting it. This is being indifferent to the veracity of a claim — or even doubting it — while calling it definitive truth.
In June 2008, Eric Holder, who was then the senior legal advisor of Barack Obama’s campaign team, told the leftist, oxymoronically named American Constitution Society:
Our government authorized the use of torture, approved of secret electronic surveillance against American citizens, secretly detained American citizens without due process of law, denied the writ of habeas corpus to hundreds of accused enemy combatants and authorized the use of procedures that violate both international law and the United States Constitution.

Note the lack of qualifying words such as “possibly” or “may have”. He definitively said, to advance a political cause, that our government and the Bush administration were violating the law and Constitution.
So, Obama won and Holder became attorney general. What did he do about it?
Andrew McCarthy, the federal prosecutor who successfully put behind bars the perpetrators of the first World Trade Center bombing,  reported Aug. 31 on PJMedia that Holder has terminated his investigation of the CIA’s enhanced interrogation without charges.
Nothing there it seems.
People who will say anything to get power, shouldn’t get power.

Tidbit Of The Day

73 percent of Americans watched some of the Olympics on TV last month. Another 17 percent watched coverage digitally while 12 percent followed the games on social networking.

A 105-Year-Old Woman Who Doesn’t Drive Gets Photo ID

A 105-year-old woman who doesn’t drive got photo ID.

And she was a Democrat.
Granted she wasn’t dead, so the Republicans were actually cheering her on and helping her.
In fairness, it was harder for Alice Carlson of Monroe County than most as the PennDOT computers would not recognize an age above 104. Still, PennDOT staff found a work-around and got an ID into her hands in about an hour-and-a-half.
She was driven to the PennDOT center by state Rep. Mario Scavello (R-176) a strong supporter of the photo voter ID law who is offering to drive anyone who needs an ID to a licensing center. So far, about six have gotten rides from him.
He’s not complaining, unlike the Democrats who crying crocodile tears knowing the dead will no longer rise in Philadelphia each November.
