The Hill has a more detailed story regarding the Senate Democrats derailment of a wildly popular bipartisan House bill to allow the Veterans Affairs secretary the power to fire or demote VA executives for poor performance.
VA Management Accountability Act passed the House by a 390-33 vote on May 21 only to see it squelched by Harry Reid.
Further, the Senate Democrats are closing ranks to protect Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki who ignored problems at the government-run health care system that led to dozens of veterans deaths and much unnecessary suffering due to long waiting lines caused by mismanagement and corruption.
The Democrat Party clearly feels its mission is to represent the state bureaucrats and not the average citizen nor those who have risked all to keep them safe.
