An Oscar Winning Hoax

One of the greatest scandals in modern science is starting to percolate into the public conscience.

A hacker, Nov. 20, downloaded 62 megabytes of data from a server at the University of East Anglia’s
Hadley Climatic Research Centre, one of the main centers of  global warming research, and uploaded them to an FTP site where they were available for the public for a few short hours which was more than enough time for them to be copied and spread through the World Wide Web like aerosol disinfectant.

The data included documents and emails indicating the researchers fudged data to make global warming appear certain and held bitterly emotional hate-filled feelings towards dissenters — not what you’d expect of detached intellectuals confident of their case.

It might still be a few weeks before you see it in the Philadelphia Inquirer, but then how many of you actually still read it?

Do remember that it was this research that was driving the “cap and trade” movement and other attempts to make us a poorer, weaker people.

Stealth Health Means More Power, More Money And Less Service

The Heritage Foundation is reporting that the true cost of the Reid Health Bill  to be submitted for debate tomorrow is going to be $4.9 trillion over 20 years. The bill will cut Medicare and fund abortionists.

If the Senate gets the 60 votes needed for debate the bill almost certainly passes. Both of Pennsylvania’s senators Democrats Arlen Specter and Bob Casey are expected to vote yes.

NY-23 Voting Hack 2009

NY-23 Voting Hack — It was claimed that voting machines used in the New York 23rd District congressional race had a computer virus.

The claim has since been rebutted.

The race appears to have been won by Democrat Bill Owens albeit absentee votes are still being counted.

Second place finisher Conservative Doug Hoffman conceded on Election Night after being given erroneous vote tallies.

The Republican,  Dede Scozzafava, finished a distant third and ended up endorsing the Democrat. The votes that went to her would have easily put Hoffman over the top.

And I really don’t think these machines were hooked up to the internet or receiving emails.

Obama Gets Black Belt

Obama Gets Black Belt — What a year for the young man from wherever. First the presidency, next a Nobel Peace Prize and now a black belt in tae  kwan do bestowed by South Koren President Lee Myung-bak, a practitioner of the sport himself.

Lee was sort of grinning when he handed over the coveted honor.

Another Inky Fumo Tale And What’s Not Mentioned?

The Philadelphia Inquirer, today, reported the sentencing of Susan A. Skotnicki, 53, a longtime aide to “disgraced former State Sen. Vincent J. Fumo”.

What did the Inquirer again neglect to mention regarding Ms. Skotnicki or the “disgraced former State Sen.”?

To assist the Inquirer in its journalistic mission, I’ll again point out the party involved was the Democrats.

Ms. Skotnicki, btw, got four years probation for theft via inflating her boss’ meal expenses by thousands of dollars.

COLA Pay Cut? LOLOLOL

COLA Pay Cut? LOLOLOL — The Commonwealth Foundation’s Nathan Benefield points out that Pennsylvania legislators,  judges and executive branch people get an automatic cost-of-living adjustment in their pay using the consumer price index (CPI) for Philadelphia as the measure for inflation.

Will fancy that, the CPI is down 0.15% this year. Does the pay of our solons and mandarins go down?

Did I really need to add a LOLOLOL to headline?

Pennsylvania Turnpike employees have received an email ordering them to
retain a wide range of documents because of multiple corruption

Nazi Midwinter Holiday

The Nazis hated Christianity and Christmas posed a problem to them since it was Germany’s most popular holiday. Rather than ban it, they tried to replace it as described in this story at the TimesOnline, the website for the paper most of us in the U.S. know as The Times of London albeit in the U.K. it is simply the Times.

The Nazis replaced carols praising Jesus with secular songs about the season — winter wonderlands so to speak. They insisted Christmas trees be called fir trees, light trees or Jultrees.

They insisted the event, Julfest or Wintersonnenwende (Winter Solstice), be one  to remember Germanic ancestors and soldiers. Here is an example of how it was supposed to be done according to a popular women’s magazine at the time:

Nazi Midwinter Holiday Wintersonnenwende

Something like that could never happen in Pennsylvania or the United States, right?

As you enter a store during the next several weeks and are greeted for the season as attempts are made to sell you gifts for some undefined holiday; and if you see fir trees being sold for some unnameable event and if  you see displays of such  trees decorated with lights and called “festivals of light”, and if the local public school holds a “Winter Solstice” concert, well, just remember the tradition being followed.

You Don’t Need A Smerconish To Tell Which Way The Wind Blows

Today’s Philadelphia Inquirer column by Michael Smerconish was a textbook conservative complaint about the cowardice of political correctness.

It looks like someone wet his finger and put it in the air.

So, Michael, in your next interview with President Obama will you ask him if he thinks Mumia should be freed?
