It Would Be The Dems Who Would Close The Govt. — With the fear, uncertainty and doubt being spread regarding the pending closure of many federal services this Friday, the point being missed that it will the Democrats who will be ones responsible for shutting down government this time.
All bills that relate to revenue must start in the House of Representatives as per the Constitution. The House is controlled by Republicans. They have submitted a bill, and have sent it to the Senate. The Senate is controlled by Democrats. They have said they won’t accept the House bill.
So, it seems, if one really wants to keep the government running, the simple thing to do would be for the Senate to accept the House bill.
Of course, the President would then have to sign it, and if should refuse he would be the one shutting down government.
He’s a Dem too, of course.
BTW, 58 percent of all Americans seem to be OK with shutting things down.
