Largest Mass Lynching William Lawrence Sr Omnibit 10-8-18

America’s largest mass lynching occurred on March 14, 1891  when 11 Italian immigrants were so murdered in New Orleans. The vile act helped motivate  President Benjamin Harrison’s declaration the next year that Columbus Day should be nationally observed as part of the 400th anniversary of the discovery — please don’t argue –of America.

The first group to oppose the celebration of Columbus Day was the Ku Klux Klan.
