Kimberly Reighley Featured Soloist With Delco Symphony

The next full orchestra concert of the Delaware County Symphony is
this Sunday, Dec. 4, at 3 p.m. Featured soloist, flutist Kimberly
Reighley, performs Concerto for Flute and Orchestra by Lowell
Liebermann.

The concert opens with Wolfgang Mozart’s Overture to the Magic Flute.
Rounding out the program is Ottorino Respighi’s Ancient Aires and
Dances Suite No.1 and concludes with Alexander Borodin’s Second
Symphony in B Minor.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for students and seniors. As
always, children under 12 admitted free with a paying adult. This is an
excellent way to bring the classics to a new generation of listeners.
A special rate of two tickets for the price of one with a valid
Delaware County or Montgomery County library card is available at the
box office day of show.

Thomas A. Bruder, Jr. Life Center in Aston, Pennsylvania. Arrive early
at 2 p.m. for an informative talk with Dr C. Michael Kelly for insight
into the composers and selections on the program. The next Chamber
Series concert will be Feb. 12.

Tallis, Victoria Featured Sunday By Delco Symphony

The second chamber series concert of the Delaware County Symphony is this Sunday, Nov 20, at 3 p.m. in the Meagher Theater in the Bruder Life Center at Neumann University in Aston, Pa..

The program begins with selections from Tomas Victoria and Thomas Tallis followed by a selection featuring the DCS Brass Ensemble. Next on the program will be a Cello Concerto from Vivaldi then chamber series director Robert Whalen performs on timpani. The concert concludes with Beethoven’s “Ghost” Trio featuring Arnold Ostroff on piano.Tallis, Victoria Featured Sunday By Delco Symphony

Tickets are $12 for adults. Presenting a Delaware County or Montgomery County Library card the day of the show allows the purchase of two adult tickets for the price of one. As always, one child under 12 admitted free with an accompanying paid adult. This is an excellent way to bring the classics to a new generation of listeners. The next full symphony concert entitled “Magical and Exotic” is Dec 4 and features selections from Mozart, Leibermann, Respighi and Borodin.

Slavic Christmas Dinner 2016 — Holy Myrrh-Bearers Eastern Catholic Church in Ridley Township, Pa. is taking reservations for its annual Slavic Christmas Dinner which will be noon, Sunday, Dec. 4, after liturgy.

On the menu are stuffed cabbage, pierogies, halushki (cabbage and noodles), kielbasi and sauerkraut, ham, home made desserts and beverages.

There will be a theme basket raffle and a visit from Saint Nick.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door. For those 8 through 12, the cost is $8 and seven and under will be admitted free.

Curt Weldon Boosts Ukraine Conference  — Former Congressman Curt Weldon has sent us a note regarding a conference concerning the Ukraine, noon, Oct. 6 at Manor College in Jenkintown.

It’s free but RSVPs are requested and can be made here.

A lunch afterwards is $20.

Curt Weldon Boosts Ukraine Conference Topics are foreign policy and humanitarian efforts. Speakers include U.S. Congressman Michael Fitzpatrick, U.S. Congressman Brendan Boyle, Dr. Larissa Kyj,  former ambassador Roman Popadiuk, former Ukraine ambassador Yuriy Sergeyev, and Walter Zaryckyj, who is executive director of U.S./Ukraine relations.

Delaware County Patriots Picnic Sept. 25 — The Delaware County Patriots, a non-partisan organization that promotes government transparency and accountability, is holding a free picnic, 1 p.m., Sept. 25 at Pavilion 17, Ridley Creek State Park.

Valley Forge Prayer Event SaturdayValley Forge Prayer Event Saturday — Prayer for America will be held 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, July 23, at Washington Memorial Chapel on Route 23 in Valley Forge Park.

All are welcome and this is ample parking.

Lunch is available at the Cabin Shop and there is a picnic area adjacent to the chapel.

Opening salutation will be made by Rev. Roy Almquist.
