Loren Kantor Woodcut Artist

We got a nice personal email from Los Angeles woodcut artist Loren Kantor promoting her site and the subjects on it.

One of these days we are going to start charging for this stuff but, with the inspiration of Pope Francis, we are going to cut Loren a break, pay it forward and help out a starving artist.

Here is Loren’s site and here is her depiction of noted director David Lynch, who gives full credit to the time he spent in Philadelphia for his bleak and bizarre visionary productions and international success.

America Movie Oscar Pedigree

Maybe Hollywood is finally waking up.  Dinesh D’Souza’s sleeper hit America: Imagine a World Without Her has a pretty good Oscar Pedigree with Gerald Molen, who produced Schindler’s List and co-produced Rain Man, as producer and Gray Frederickson, who produced The Godfather and the Godfather Part II and Apocalypse Now as associate producer.

Frederickson describes what some are thinking in this article on Breitbart.com.

If you are interested in seeing America: Imagine a World Without Her here is where it is playing in Philadelphia’s western suburbs.

FYI, it appears that Costco’s decision to pull the movie’s book companion from its stories was political.

Costco has been been a big donor to Obama whom the book and movie harshly criticize.

Did you know one needs a photo ID to get into a Costco? Of course, it’s not like one is trying to vote or anything.

Regina Scheerer of Springfield reports that she and her husband went to the local premiere of Dinesh D’Souza’s America: Imagine a World Without Her and recommends all to see it.

It opens July 2 at the Regal Plymouth Meeting 10 in Conshohocken and at the United Artists Stadium 16  in King of Prussia.

Foxcatcher, Delco Shines Again

Foxcatcher, Delco Shines Again Du Pont portrait

John du Pont’s official portrait in Foxcatcher sweats on display at his estate sale in 2011 for which he paid artist Hubert Shuptrine $100,000.

Delaware County, Pa. on Feb. 22 has a better than even chance of making another Oscar appearance  — Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress for 2012 for Silver Linings Playbook — as Foxcatcher was a finalist for the Palme d’Or at the recently ended Cannes Film Festival.

The prize went to Winter Sleep, a Turkish film about class struggle (or something) in that country. Don’t expect it to compete for Best Picture.

Foxcatcher concerns the Jan. 26, 1996 murder of Olympic gold medal wrestler Dave Shultz by John du Pont at du Pont’s Foxcatcher estate and training facility in Newtown Township. It’s based on the autobiography of Shultz’s brother Mark, who was also an Olympic gold medalist that trained at the estate.

I knew du Pont. I even have an autographed copy of his book Off The Mat, which was clearly created by an abjectly bored ghost writer granted unwise access to a list of cliches.

He was nuts. You would never believe his answering machine.

I did not know Shultz who had a reputation of being a decent family man who sent his kids to the local public school, Culbertson.

Hopefully, that comes through.

Hollywood Treason, Literally

James O keefe Hollywood Treason, Literally

James O’Keefe

James O’Keefe, who may be the nation’s gutsiest journalist, has Hollywood actor Ed Begley Jr., actress Mariel Hemingway and director John Tickell on tape willing to sell this country to Islamic oil interests for $9 million.

A Project Veritas operative posing as a “Muhammad” from a Mideast oil family offered the money to fund an anti-fracking movie because “if Washington D.C.  continues fracking, America will be energy-efficient and then won’t need my oil anymore.”

“Sounds good” the Hollywooders said.

Please understand that those so smugly asserted as heroes in our entertainment are so asserted by people who have no understanding of right and wrong, and no concern about what’s in your best interest.

The same applies for those they claim are villains.

Gosnell Movie Reaches Goal

Expect to see a movie  about the monster from Philadelphia who performed abortions for decades with a nod and a wink from “pro choice” state officials.

The Kermit Gosnell project led by Phelim McAleer and crew has reached its $2.1 million crowdfunding goal via Indiegogo.

Gosnell killed more people than Gary Ridgeway, John Wayne Gacey, The Zodiac Killer and Ted Bundy combined at 3801 Lancaster Ave., McAleer points out yet he remained a respected and protected member of the nation’s self-proclaimed “smart set” up until the end.

Well, maybe even after the end. McAleer et al initially tried to crowdfund at the better known Kickstarter only to find obstruction and rejection.

We are small but proud contributor to the project.

Movies Attract Predators

Movies Attract PredatorsMovies Attract Predators — Eighties child stars Corey Feldman and Allison Arngrim have described the pedophilia rampant in Hollywood in their heydays, and Anne Henry of BizParentz Foundation says it is even worse today because of the greatly expanded entertainment market, and the internet that allows predators greater access.

California has passed a bill in response prohibiting registered sex offenders from working with children in the entertainment industry and requiring fingerprints from anyone working with children.

Perhaps it is time for Pennsylvania to consider such a law. It does have its own movie studio now.

Gosnell Movie Seeks Funding

The producers of the well-received FrackNation — the New York Times liked it despite it stomping over liberal shibboleths — are now trying to produce a movie about mass baby-killer, noted Philadelphian and one-time liberal darling Kermit Gosnell.

They are trying to raise the money via crowdfunding at this site.

We kicked in $50. Good luck to them.

House Of Cards Delco Connection

House Of Cards Delco Connection — Netflix released its second season of its excellent Emmy-winning House of Cards series at 3:01 EST this morning, Valentine’s Day 2014.The series concerns an evil Democrat senator, his Lady Macbeth-type wife  and their Machiavellian schemes.

It has an extremely strong Delaware County, Pa. connection in that one
of the major characters in the first season was a congressman who
represented the 1st District of Pennsylvania, which includes most of the Delaware County waterfront along with Philadelphia-bordering communities such as Darby and Yeadon.\

Oh yeah and Swarthmore and Nether Providence i.e. hooty-tooty Wallingford.

Anyway, what happened to the congressman is best not revealed as there are those who might want to catch up with season one, although we can say he did look the least bit like Bob Brady.

We are looking forward to enjoying season 2.

Song Banned From The Oscars

Here is “You’re Not Alone”, the song written by Bruce Broughton and Dennis Spiegel and sung by 64-year-old  Joni Eareckson Tada, which was among the candidates for Best Original Song but had its nomination rescinded after a private investigator hired by a competitor found that Broughton sent some of the members of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences an email asking them to give it a listen. The song comes from the faith-based movie of the same name.
