5 Must Know Facts About Health Care Exchanges

Elizabeth Stelle of Commonwealth Foundation notes that there is nothing a state gains by setting up by an ObamaCare health care exchange and much it gains by leaving the matter to the feds.

She notes that state exchange provides no control, requires taxpayers to shoulder the cost, and limit choice,
She also notes that refraining to create an exchange means that state officials can also avoid the blame for the rising premiums that are certain to occur.
She notes that 16 states have already rejected exchanges and that Pennsylvania has yet to do so. She says the new Dec. 14 deadline for a decision is largely meaningless.
Great article, Elizabeth. Click the link to read it.

Tidbit Of The Day

Minutes spent per day with a newspaper has fallen from 33 in 2009 to 22 in 2012. For magazines the drop was 22 to 16.

Soak The Hollywood 1%ers

This last election has shown that “taxing the rich” is dominant value of the American Voter, says Tea Party activist Bob Guzzardi.

“Elections have consequences and it is time the losers recognize that and embrace Hollywood Values of redistributing the wealth and where best to start than Hollywood, home of the Obama Redistributionists,” he says.

Democrat Harry Truman imposed a Hollywood 20% Federal Admissions  Tax on Movie Admission, an excise tax, after WWII, in response to the high deficits after World War II.

Deficits are high again.

Would Barack Obama’s Million Dollar Donor Morgan Freeman, and Obama Supporters, George Clooney, Beyonce, Oprah,   Samuel l. Jackson, Barbra Streisand and Jane Fonda, not want to lead by example give up lives of obscene luxury, including California’s own $100 million Hollywood Tax Credit, for their principles and for the “Greater Good”?

How many movies weren’t made because a producer said: “Tax rates are too high?”  Were there fewer movies made when there were no tax credits or when tax rates were high?

Would not professional athletes not want to follow? College athletes, and Olympic stars, play the game for no monetary reward, why would not professional athletes themselves play for the same reasons they played in college?  After all, they didn’t build it, someone else did.

Great points, Bob.

Springfield Budget Meeting Tomorrow

The Springfield Commissioners will present the 2013 Township Budget at a meeting at the Township Building 7 p.m., tomorrow, Nov. 27, reports Regina Scheerer of the excellent Delaware County Patriots.

Tax increases to residents will be a part of it, she says.

Public comment is welcomed.

She says that Springfield residents need to let their commissioners know whether they prefer tax increases or reduction in services.

Thank you, for the hard work you do Regina.

While no one likes a tax hit, one feels compelled to note that the biggest load by far placed on the residents’ backs comes from the school district, which is bloated with fat that could be easily cut if we had a little help from our state overlords, excuse me, legislators.

This is true, btw, of all communities in the state.

Debt Keeps Growing In Pa.

In past 10 months, the Republican controlled General Assembly of Pennsylvania voted to add $4.6 billion of taxpayer debt onto Pennsylvania’s future taxpayers, reports taxpayer activist Bob Guzzardi
Act 130 of 2011 added $2.3 billion debt, signed into law by Republican Governor Tom Corbett on Dec. 22, and Act 193 of 2012, signed into law by Republican Governor Tom Corbett on Oct. 2 added another $2.3 billion.
“All government debt is deferred taxation,” said Guzzardi. “Adding debt allows the Republican General Assembly to spend more than tax revenues. Adding debt allows Republicans to deceptively claim to have balanced the budget while, deceptively, deficit spending.”
He noted that “Republican Leadership, in and out of government, count on the compliant and clueless media not to report the deceptive debt and Republicans, like Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi and Senate Appropriations Chair Jake “the Senator from Penn State” Corman and Speaker of the House Sam Smith, whose family has represented House District 66 for 50 years, and Majority Leader Mike Turzai, financed, in part, by unions, the main drivers of government spending, Delaware County “Republican” House Appropriations Committee Chair Bill Adolph, entwined with DelCo’s Democratic Union Organizers.”
Guzzardi called the debt is stealth taxation.
“By the time the bill comes due, the culprits are collecting their government pensions or working as lobbyists,” he said. “Look at a young person; he and she are paying for this fiscally reckless irresponsibility. We don’t teach our kids financial literacy so they rely on us and we sell them out.”
