Kevin Wade Is Tea Party Pick

The  Independence Hall Tea Party PAC is endorsing Kevin Wade to represent Delaware in the U.S. Senate.
Wade, a Republican, will almost certainly take on incumbent Democrat Thomas Carper.
The state’s primary election for everything but the presidency is Sept. 11. Wade is uncontested but Carper is being challenged by businessman Keith Spanarelli.

Wade is the founder of the engineering firm, Philadelphia Control Systems, which he grew into from a one-man operation started 30 years ago into a world recognized company.

“There isn’t a single candidate running for office in the tri-state region that can articulate conservative principles better than Kevin Wade,” said PAC President Don Adams.

Police departments starting with Pennsylvania State Police gave the four buses carrying the veterans a constant escort throughout the day.

Delaware County Councilman John McBlain, Congressman Chaka Fattah and Andrew Colket of Congressman Pat Meehan’s office were the speakers.

Neal Pizzano portrayed a World War II era MP and Korean War Marine James Eman provided a display of memorabilia.

Baba Ghanoush — Recipe Of The Day

Baba ghanoush is an easy eggplant-based dish from the Levant. The name is Arabic and means “father of flirting”

Here is a recipe for the grill using Andrew’s garden eggplants:

2 eggplants (medium size to large)

1/2 Cup of tahini

1/2 Cup of lemon juice

4 Tbls of garlic powder

4 Tbls of sesame seeds

3 Tbls of olive oil

salt and pepper to taste

Smear vegetable oil on the eggplants and grill grates. Poke holes in the eggplants with a fork. Cook on the grill with the cover down at 400°F for about 40 minutes, occasionally turning the eggplants.  It’s really hard to cook them too long. Take the eggplants off and put them in a pot of cold water. Remove the skin, which by the way, is rather tasty in itself off the grill. Put the insides in a bowl and combine it with the tahini, lemon juice, garlic powder, sesame seeds and salt and pepper. Mash them up, then puree them in a blender or Cusinart.  Add the olive oil, let chill for two hours and enjoy with crackers or chips.

Just One More Burden For The American Consumer

Reader Tom C submitted this link to a New York Times article dealing with why central planning doesn’t work and the lack of wisdom of those leading the modern environmental movement.

It concerns the smuggling trial of officials with Marcone, a century-old, St. Louis based firm that is the nation’s largest supplier of appliance parts. The company is accused of smuggling HCFC-22, a gas banned in the use of air-conditioners in this country in 2010 but still produced in enormous volumes and sold cheaply in China, India and Mexico.
The gas is needed to service old machines and the Obama administration has made the regulations on its importation rather burdensome.
The banning of the gas is due to fears it is destroying the ozone layer. Maybe it is wise for new air conditioners to be developed that don’t use it.
It should be noted, however, that it is rather futile with regard to saving the planet to keep the gas out of old machines here while it is still being used in large amounts in the rest of the world.
It does, though, make life harder for Americans so if that’s Obama’s intent that is achieved.

Bibi At Wits’ End With 0

Newsmax.com is reporting that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blew up at the U.S. ambassador last month because he was “at wits’ end” over what he sees as the Obama administration’s lack of clarity on Iran’s nuclear program.
