The worst blizzard death toll in the United States occurred in The Great Blizzard of 1888 in the Northeast.

More than 400 died in the March 11-14 storm that dumped between 40–50 inches of snow in parts of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Roads were blocked and telephone, telegraph, and rail service were stopped for days and 200 ships were sunk.

New York and Boston created the first underground subways in response to the storm.

Justin Trudeau NXIVM Connection Alleged — Justin Trudeau, the hip, cool anti-Trump Canadian prime minister who bears a strange physical resemblance to Fidel Castro, is in real trouble.

Former Canadian Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould testified before her country’s House of Commons that Trudeau pressured her to reach a settlement with SNC-Lavalin, a large Canadian engineering company charged with serious crimes namely giving bribes to the Libyan government when it was under the control of Muammar Gaddafi.

Ms. Wilson-Raybould was forced from her post in January. The scandal exploded, Feb. 7, with a story in The Globe and Mail.

But some are speculating that there is far more to this than simple political hackery and corporate cronyism.

Tech guru and former Democrat activist Jeffrey Peterson is claiming that there are connections to NXIVM, the twisted sex cult largely financed by Sara Bronfman, heiress to the Seagram liquor fortune.

Peterson’s basis is Stephen Bronfman — Sara’s cousin — being Trudeau’s friend and a major fundraiser for him. Also Stephen’s finances are managed by a company in which Emma Griffin is an executive. She is the wife of Neil Bruce, who is president of SNC-Lavalin.

SNC-Lavalin, besides allegedly giving $160 million in kickbacks to Al-Saadi Gaddafi, the late Muammar’s son, treated the lad to a sex trip across Canada.

A flaw in Peterson’s case, however, is that Sara Bronfman is married to Basit Igtet.

Igtet, a Muslim businessman from Libya, helped orchestrate the overthrow of Gaddafi in 2011.

It seems the cousins had cross purposes regarding Libya.

On the other hand, it does raise the question as to whether Sara Bronfman ever sent Hillary Clinton a thank you note.

Nuclear Power Green Deal

Nuclear Power Green Deal — The Wall Street Journal on Feb. 26 had a great column by John Rie and Alan Emery titled “The Nuclear Option Is The Real Green Deal”.

It’s behind a paywall so to sum it up:

  • Solar and wind are not serious solutions to the problems of global energy demand.
  • Nuclear power is a stable, profit-generating 24/7 carbon-free energy source that uses the existing power grid and fully proven technology.
  • Almost all the deaths involving nuclear power come from the 1986 Chernobyl accident. The Three Mile Island incident caused neither deaths nor an increase in cancer, and the 2011 Fukushima incident caused neither death or disease from exposure to radiation. (Side note: Chernobyl was designed by socialists.)
  • Most significantly, a nuclear plant produces as much toxic waste in a year that a coal plant produces in an hour.

Rie and Emery also describe how South Korean nuclear plants are extremely profitable as they have all been built from an identical design.

We despise global warming fanatics but minimizing carbon emissions is obviously a desirable thing.

And really, are global warming fanatics worse than no-nuke ones?

Here’s an irony: If the AGW-gonna-kill-us-all-in-12-years crowd is right, Jane Fonda will literally be responsible for destroying the world.
