Rick Perry Attack Smacks Of Totalitarianism

Rosemary Lehmberg, the district attorney of Travis County, Texas was arrested for drunk driving April 12, 2013.

Video of her arrest showed her being abusive and threatening officers with retaliation.

She pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 45 days in jail and a $4,000 fine.

She refused to resign, though.

Travis County is one of the few Democrat counties in Texas and contains the state capital of Austin. One of the jobs of the Travis D.A. is to head the The Public Integrity Unit (PIU) which is funded by the state and investigates public corruption, insurance fraud, and motor fuels tax fraud.

The Travis County DA also holds the chief responsibility for enforcing the government and election code statewide.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry felt that a person who scoffs at the law and abuses law enforcement officers was not fit to hold the position. He said he would veto the $7.5 million state funding for the PIU unless Ms. Lehmberg resigned.

Ms. Lehmberg again refused and Perry vetoed the allocation.

What happened next was that a grand jury was empaneled in Travis County and indicted Perry on the felony charges of felony charges of abuse of official capacity and coercion of public servant with a maximum sentence of 109 years in prison.

Perry, today, Aug. 16, issued a statement saying that he “wholeheartedly and unequivocally” stands behind his veto calling the indictment as “nothing more than an abuse of power.

” I cannot, and will not, allow that to happen,” he said.  “I intend to fight against those who would erode our state’s constitution and laws purely for political purposes, and I intend to win. I will explore every legal avenue to expedite this matter and bring it to a swift conclusion. I am confident we will ultimately prevail, that this farce of a prosecution will be revealed for what it is, and that those responsible will be held to account.”

Thank you, Gov. Perry. We wish you were a Pennsylvanian.

Here is the video of District Attorney Lehmberg showing her respect for the law.

Al Gore Sues Al Jazeera

It’s the battle of the Al’s and while fun to watch it’s hard to care about which scorpion wins.

Al Gore, with Current TV co-founder Joel Hyatt, filed suit against Al Jazeera America in Delaware Court of Chancery  over $65 million being held in escrow.

Gore and Hyatt sold the unwatched network to the Jihadist propaganda machine in January 2013 for $500 million making him even more obscenely richer than he was.

As  Current-TV had a viewership closer to a public access network airing a replay of a township commissioners meeting than, well, Fox, the Arabs were not interested in its content but in the favorable cable and satellite deals the network had.

Once a former vice president was no longer on the scene, however, Al Jazeera discovered the sweet circumstances to be rather ephemeral. It found itself in litigation with DirectTV and AT&T, along with being dropped by Time Warner Cable albeit it has since returned.

So they’ve be slow to give Gore and Hyatt all the money, which Gore and Hyatt want as the obscenely rich can never have too much.

Al Jazeera has not been doing much better than Current in its ratings, by the way.

Gore’s attorney in the lawsuit is again David Boies who represented him in the 2000 battle over the Florida election recount.

Ebola Coverage Stays Quiet

With all the stories regarding celebrity deaths and such, it sure is easy to see why its hard for the old media to find some room concerning the West African Ebola epidemic.

Today’s Philadelphia Inquirer did manage to sneak in a few paragraphs on page 4 about how its going to last six more months.

As of yesterday, Aug. 15, the reported toll was 1,145 deaths and  2,127 cases of the disease.

The World Health Organization (WHO) claims the reported toll “vastly underestimate the magnitude of the outbreak.”

The New York Times, to its credit, is taking the matter seriously, as is Matt Drudge.

Other stories of interest not getting much mention is a report that Ukraine has attacked Russian troops — something denied by Russia —  and leaves changing color in Pittsburgh due to record cold temperatures pretty much putting paid to all claims of global warming.

Comcast Customer Support Is Criminal

Comcast Building Lobby Comcast Customer Support Is CriminalComcast Customer Support Is Criminal. The lobby of the Comcast Building in Philadelphia

Aaron Spain of Chicago was a Comcast customer. He found himself displeased with the product provided by the Philadelphia communications giant and tried to cancel.

He went through the sign-in garbage, got hold of a service rep and was put on hold.

He waited 3 hours and 20 minutes before trying on a different phone. What did he find? He found that the office was closed for the day.

Pretty funny, Aaron, huh?

Actually, the joke is going to be on Comcast. This isn’t the first cancellation horror story  circulating the web involving the liberal — it owns MSNBC and its campaign contributions skew heavily to Democrats— corporation.

Violating contracts leads to legal action, and fraud leads to being charged with crimes.

We suspect lawyers will soon be contacting Mr. Spain, and politically astute state attorney generals will start calling for investigations.

If you own stock in the company sell it now.

Here is the video Aaron put on on YouTube documenting his experience.

Jonathan Explains Ferguson Riots

A fellow identifying himself as Jonathan has posted a Youtube video explaining the Ferguson, Mo. riots.

He says Black people have to change and stop blaming White people.

It’s a beautiful rant. It pretty much sums things up.

Here it is courtesy of Cathy Craddock:

Ferguson Police have issued a statement concerning what led to the shooting. They said Michael Brown, 18, and another man were encountered by the officer, whose name has not been released, on the street. They then assaulted him, pushing him into his squad car. At that point shots were fired by the officer resulting in Brown’s death.

Police said the officer suffered facial injuries.

Dorian Johnson, who says he was the  man with Brown, has a different story. He says the officer ordered them out of the street then opened his squad car door too close to the men causing it to bounce back in his face angering the officer. At that point, he says, the officer left the car, grabbed Brown’s neck and tried to pull him into the car. When Brown broke his grasp, the officer pulled his gun and started firing. Johnson says Brown had has hands raised when he was shot.

Regardless of whose version is true — and be certain the matter will be investigated by authorities beyond Ferguson — those rioting are not interested in justice.

H8ers Torment Bloomsburg Bridal Shop

Victoria Miller owns W.W. Bridal Boutique in Bloomsburg, Pa. A lesbian couple asked her to provide wedding gowns. She declined saying she did not approve of same sex marriage on religious grounds.

Rather than just nodding and taking their business elsewhere as most would do if offended by a store, they launched a hate campaign forcing Ms. Miller to take down her social media sites and hire a lawyer.

Some ignorant types are  going to say that discriminating on these matters is the same as discrimination against blacks in the Jim Crow era. It’s not. The Jim Crow discrimination was mandated by law. Jim Crow was big government that prevented free enterprise i.e. the opening of a store that would serve all to compete with the white-only one.

What Ms. Millier did is no  different than a black baker refusing to decorate a cake with a Confederate flag to celebrate the founding of the Ku Klux Klan.

Nobody is taking about stopping the opening of a bridal shop to cater to same sex couples.

H8ers will H8 though whether they be white supremacists or gay activists.

Media Priorities Regarding Suffering

The Philadelphia area papers today, Aug. 14, continued to carry stories about a celebrity death that happened three days ago.

Meanwhile, nothing about the status of courageous Christian missionaries Dr. Kent Brantly and Nancy Writebol who are fighting for their lives after contracting ebola in Liberia.

The latest reports have Mrs. Writebol and Dr. Brantly improving.

Keep them in your prayers.
