Chester GOP Boss Takes On Tenant Abuse — Tessalieni Kelley rented the second floor of a three-story home at 2220 W. Third St., Chester, Pa. in June and moved in along with his wife and one-year-old.
Kelley is Chester’s GOP chairman.
The landlord appeared to be a fellow living on the first floor. Kelly began paying him the rent, which began at $700 per month then went to a thousand when they took the entire floor.
Well, lo and behold, the guy to whom they were giving the money turned out to be a tenant.
Kelley stopped the payments.
A second man entered the scene. He claimed to be a property manager working on the behalf of the landlord.
This fellow wouldn’t take the money but told him to send it to a Zelle account of another guy.
Kelley sent $500 then started investigating.
This guy wasn’t a registered property manager.
Kelley started looking for the guy who owned the property. He came up with a name and attempted to contact him, but all efforts were rebuffed.
Kelley decided to withhold the money until it could get to the right person.
This time intimidation started in earnest. Kelley says there was rudeness from the beginning but threats started along with physical confrontations.
He has called the police several times but little could be done. Kelley says they left the apartment after his the battery from ring camera was removed.
He says he took the important stuff but possessions still remain.
Kelley notes the tenant who shared the floor when they moved in — an elderly woman — left because of intimidation.
The fellow who allowed the Kelleys to move in never asked for a lease.
Kelley says the tenants are related to Chester council woman Tameka Williams.
Kelley says he’s looking for an attorney to deal with tenant rights not just for himself but for the rest of those who pass through the place.
The house is in poor condition, Kelley says. There is mold, water leaks and raccoons living in the ceiling.

An Enjoyable First Trip To LA
By Tevin Dix
I went to Los Angeles to visit my sister, last week. It was my first time to California.
There’s so many nice places from restaurants, to houses, the boardwalk and movie studios. The people in LA are more laid back than the people at home in Philadelphia. I saw a lot of Waymo cars. For those who don’t know they’re self driving vehicles that’s used for public transportation. There’s taco stands almost on every corner, so I guess you’ll never go hungry, which is good. I saw SoFi Stadium, it’s the home of the Rams and Chargers but the first thing that came to my mind was Wrestlemania 39.
While I was down there, I ate at some really decent restaurants. Rock ‘N’ Fish, In-N-Out Burger and Esperanza. Rock ‘N’ Fish was my favorite.
My favorite part of the trip was touring Paramount Studios. I believe it is every movie goers dream to tour a movie studio and I finally achieved that dream. I had so much fun looking at the props and memorabilia. Seeing stages where they shot movies and TV shows was pretty cool. I even got to walk inside one. My tour guy was telling me about the history of Paramount Studios, and how Alfred Hitchcock used to work there. He’s a genius in the movie industry.
In the end, I had a good time besides the long flight going to California and heading back home.

Answer to yesterday’s puzzle: If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this.

Habeas Corpus Sought For Baby Carlie –Dr. Tanya Fowler has been awarded a pre-trial conference in U.S. Easter District Court regarding a writ of habeas corpus for the return of Baby Carlie, her granddaughter.
Carlie was snatched an agent of Philadelphia’s Department of Health Services (DHS) from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s King of Prussia facility on Oct. 7, 2022.
The city deemed it had ownership of Carlie because her mother — Tanya’s daughter — is a drug abuser who passed out on a Philly street while Carlie was with her.
Never mind that Tanya was doing a much better job with Carlie than a city social service can ever hope to.
Tanya fears the motive in taking Carlie was either organ harvesting or sex trafficking. Carlie matches the profile of children desired by those who do such things, she says.
Tanya fears are not without reason. She has a Ph.d in medical anthropology and has taught at Temple University. Her expertise includes the profitable practice of child kidnapping by officialdom.
A habeas corpus bringing forth Carlie would resolve such fears.
Carlie was abused by one foster family in which she was placed.

Luigi Mangione And His Musical
By Bob Small
From Assassins to Chicago to Sweeney Todd, there is a history of “bloody” musicals. Previously, many of the world’s best-known operas focused on murderers. Bluebeard’s Castle, Lucretia Borgia, Lulu, Macbeth, and Othello are just a few of the better-known names. Somehow, adding music to the tale gives it another dimension, if not making it more palatable.
“Luigi” which features Luigi Mangione and includes the characters of non-murderers Sam Bankman-Fried and Sean “Diddy” Combs, is set in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, where all three were housed. This musical premiered on June 13t
Let me share a rather noble sentiment from the final song, “every single human being’s life has worth / so I’ll shoot everybody until there’s peace on Earth.”
The last sentence of the article is worded perfectly “To see the system at work means becoming a witness, and becoming a witness means being, on some level, implicated in the system, for good or for ill. “
This musical that Luigi has become an unwitting “star” of Yep, the Luigi Mangione musical is here , comes with more immediacy than most other works. Should this be out before the trial begins. Just saying.
This work was created by four stand-up comedians. Whether we can expect it on the East Coast is yet to be determined though we think that’s a safe bet.
Nova Bradford, one of the creators of this musical says “We’re not valorizng any of these characters and we’re not trivializing any of their actions or alleged actions.
Lily Janiak, Theater Critic, for the San Francisco Chronicle, has a “killer” review.
Towards the end of the review , though, she quotes a very effective line “I wanted them to understand what it feels like when someone else gets to decide if you live or die.” This brings us back to why an alleged murderer has such a wide swath of public sympathy.

Maybe one of our Delco Theaters that regularly runs musicals, The Media Theatre or Swarthmore Players Club can run it this Fall, so we can judge for ourselves,

Commonwealth Court Says Political Parties Must Follow Bylaws — Things look bleak and corruption seems permanent then comes an unexpected victory.
Commonwealth Court, Sept. 16, overturned a ruling by Bucks County Judge Brian T. McGuffin saying the county’s GOP doesn’t have to follow its charter.
The suit was filed by Barry Casper and 43 others in 2023 after an ethics complaint regarding the reorganization election on June 25, 2022 was ignored by the state party.
The election saw Pat Poprik nearly unseated as party chair by Casper, who was leading an insurgency.
Issues occurred in the election such as one person casting 45 proxy votes and disregard for Roberts Rules of Order.
These would be in violation of the party bylaws.
The frosting on this cake though was that the party was found not to have a legal set of bylaws.
The ones on file with the Board of Elections were dated June 26, 1972 by produced by a word processor with the “signature” of then chairman C.V. Afferback printed in a stylish italic font.
They were later replaced with the original typewritten ones.
The Court ruled that Pennsylvania’s Nonprofit Corporation Law and Nonprofit Association Law explicitly cover political organizations.
In other words political parties are bound by the same governance rules as every other nonprofit in the state.
The court noted that bylaws must be properly adopted, signed, and filed to be valid.
The matter has been returned to the Bucks County Common Pleas Court as how to make things right.
The plaintiffs were represented by Andrew Teitelman and Joshua Prince.
Ada Nestor has an excellent article about this in Broad and Liberty which can be found here, and Prince has written about it on his blog concerning the state-wide implications.
