Daily Times Perplexed About Concern For Obama Speech

Today’s editorial in the Delaware County Daily Times was an expression of perplexion and strange outrage at the many parents concerned that President Obama’s Sept. 8 address to the nation’s 7th through 12 graders is going to be more of an exercise in building a Third-World type personality cult rather than an inspiration for youngsters to learn.

 
Here are some questions the Department of Education is suggesting teachers ask their students as a classroom activity with regard to the speech.

Why does President Obama want to speak with us today?     

 How will he inspire us?    

How will he challenge us?   

What might he say?  

Do you remember any other historic moments when the president spoke to the  

nation?    

What was the impact?    

 
Seems pretty Obama-centric. What happened to the stuff about “question authority”? It seems to have fallen out of fashion. 
 
The theme for the “last Kennedy brother” as some have called Obama, is ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for Obama.
 
Only a Maoist wouldn’t find it creepy.

Facing Jail For Praying In The USA

Pace High School Principal Frank Lay and school athletic director Robert Freeman face up to 6 months in jail and a $5,000 fine for offering a mealtime prayer at the school in Florida. They are accused of breaching the conditions of a lawsuit settlement reached last year with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Pray for these brave and decent men and pray that America gets it common sense back.

Also work to pull the teeth of the totalitarians who wrap themselves in the flag and the mantel of civil liberties. The ACLU is anti-liberty.

Agora Cyber Charter School

The Agora Cyber Charter School based in Devon is fighting in three different judicial arenas to keep its charter that the Pennsylvania Department of Education is trying to revoke. Agora Cyber Charter School

It has filed lawsuits in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia, Commonwealth Court in Harrisburg and Chester County Common Pleas Court to stop the state, which is accusing the school of hanky-panky by contracting management services in violation of its charter including $2.8 million to Cynwyd Group LLC which is controlled by the school’s founder,  Dorothy June Brown.

The school, which opened in 2005,  serves 4,400 students statewide on a $41 million budget.

Even if the hanky-panky turns out to be true that $9,318 per student price will still beat Marple Newtown at $17,142 ($60 million for 3,500 students); Garnet Valley at $17,021 ($80 million for 4,700 students); William Penn at $15,716 ($86 million for 5,472 students) and every other public school in the area.

Marple Newtown $65 Million High School Project

Marple Newtown’s $65 million high school renovation project is going to start in earnest next summer. It iwill  include a new 28,500-square foot cafeteria,
7,700-square foot performing arts area and 3,300-square foot,
six-classroom addition, and  62-space parking lot next to the
tennis courts.

That would come to about $5,000 per household in the district — albeit taxes from commercial properties will lesson the pain a slight tad.The district spends about $65 million annually too.
