Obamacare Liberation Manifesto

The chat below represents a spontaneous chat this morning (Jan. 17) on Facebook. I called it a manifesto, because it seems only right wingers have them (sarcasm noted). The names have been altered for the sake of their privacy;

Pat Carfagno: Its not something I like to make the focus of my life, but I have MS. I had wonderful health insurance and pharm coverage. I have all but lost my pharm coverage with the advent of Obamacare and its affect on private insurance. It is so restrictive as to be useless for someone with chronic illness. A broad look at the changes shows the deliberate isolation of specialty drugs from folks like me. Where the insurance that I worked for, was once a successful attempt at personal responsibility, I am now to be responsible for 50 Grand a year out of pocket. It might as well be a million.

I assure you all that I am not alone in this. As the year progresses, more and more people will discover that they have been targeted for costs savings by insurance companies with the permission and blessing of Obamacare. The chronically ill will find out first. It is only as boomers are diagnosed with illness will they find out that they have been similarly targeted.

There is a “free drug” program for me to apply for. Then, at the end of your life, (or before) the government comes to liquidate your assets for your “privilege” of getting “free” drug. I will not bankrupt my family for the ‘common good’.

Note that this confiscation is what politicians mean when they use the phrase “means testing”.

Yippee.

Still waiting for paperwork (application). But its already been months. It seems as if you can have free drug on the taxpayers dime. The drug company will “give” you drug, but the taxpayer fully reimburses the drug company for the full 50 grand. I will not be part of such an evil thing by participating even though this decision may have a profound effect on my quality of life.

(responses)

Sam: Government at it best! Just like Social security, medicare etc.\

Anna: A woman that has a hysterectomy had to carry it…just in case. A women over the age of 65 has to carry it…CHILDREN may have to carry it as well…just in case. Idiocy. Real. True. Idiocy.

Beth: The libs have turned America into a communal village, next we’ll be sharing bathrooms. I just abhor what the socialist/Marxist are doing to this Nation.

Pat Carfagno; I thank God that he is in charge of the plan of my life and not any man.

I am posting this chat because I think the posts linked together make an especially coherent explanation of the situation Americans will find themselves in sooner, rather than later, which I have thus far been unable to express. Note that the taxpayer will now pay the drug company for their products rather than the private drug insurance program in which I have been enrolled.

Note further that elite leftist pattern of having our children pay
for their elders freebies remains in overdrive in this and all
government ponzi schemes.

God Save Us.

2013 Very Bad Year

A Economist/YouGov poll shows that 69 percent of Americans thought 2013 was either a bad year or very bad year.

That’s unchanged from 2012.

Only a quarter say health care coverage is better today than it was a year ago. More than half say it has gotten worse.

Hat tip Washington Examiner.

Obamacare Ends Volunteer Services

Obamacare ends volunteer services, basically, if the IRS rules that they are businesses with more than 50 employees as many expect them to do. Obamacare Ends Volunteer Services

It’s something that those who fought so hard to save the Springfield (Pa) Ambulance Corps should realize.

The fights not over though. A bill has been introduce in Congress — The Protect Volunteer Firefighters and Emergency Responders Act (H.R. 3685) — that would exempt volunteer services from the requirement. Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa) is leading the charge in the Senate. The Pennsylvania House unanimously passed a resolution (HR 584) sponsored by Gordon Denlinger (R-99) endorsing the federal action.

Still, why should we have to walk on pins and needles to fight to keep our standard of living from giving way to hopeless change? Didn’t anybody read Obamacare before they passed it? Oh yeah, sorry.

State Rep Jim Cox (R-129) note that 71 percent of fire departments in the nation are staffed by volunteers.

“In Pennsylvania, that number jumps to 97 percent,” he says.

ObamaCare, Dead Plan Walking

By Keith Phucas

Is Obamacare dead? If not, it may be put out of its misery soon by America’s younger generation.

With no apparent incentives for young adults to sign up on the health care exchanges, it’s a safe bet that unless enrollment figures rise dramatically, the Affordable Care Act stratagem will ultimately fail — fail, that is, because it cannot attract sufficient numbers of young people
to the exchanges to subsidize the older, less healthy enrollees.

Obamacare is too big not to fail.

With more and more sick older folks enrolled, but few young’uns, up and up go premiums to dizzying heights. All that’s left to do is stand back and
watch the death spiral rise, right? Then watch it all come tumbling
down. Well, at the moment, it’s difficult to predict the future sequence
of events.

But why in the world would adults in their 20s — “Young Invincibles” or “Millennials” (ages 18 to 34) seen as essential for Obamacare to work financially — enroll on Healthcare.gov given the federal exchange’s poor performance, security concerns and high premium offerings?

Besides, many Millennials can stay on their parents’ health care plan until they turn 26.

Oh, and here’s one more reason why there’s no big hurry to sign up for health coverage now — the law forbids discriminating against anyone with a preexisting condition, so the uninsured can wait until they fall ill and land in the hospital before signing up for coverage. How convenient.

Obamacare’s true believers, who earnestly believed the president’s signature law would actually make insurance affordable for all, must be wondering what the hell happened to detour his signature achievement onto this twisted course.

ObamaCare Challenge

By Robert B. Sklaroff, M.D.

Here is the newly-uploaded ObamaCare Homepage; see if you can register!

With all due respect to those who fantasize that ObamaCare
is self-destructing, it should be noted that it’s fully-funded [thanx
to Mike Fitzpatrick] and will begin to distribute “goodies” [subsidies]
in a month; nevertheless, “hope springs eternal” and, thus,
emerging-data are worth distilling and disseminating. Again, to save
time [as occurred with the “Racism”-themed “blast”], categorization
after an intro will be provided, with key-concepts grouped and
juxtaposed, affording the reader a database that can be used to
corroborate conclusions drawn in analyses/syntheses of this
transformational [irreversible?] effort. {ObamaCare
doesn’t officially kick off until 1/1/2014, yet millions of Americans
are already at each other’s throats over it; research from the U.S.
Census Bureau shows that the country is now more divided than at any
other time in history since the Civil War era.
..and BHO must now feel self-satisfied.}  The GOP’s Health Care Compact tersely conveys an alternative to this crass exertion of Big Government.

This is the compilation major Healthcare Policy Articles disseminated on Nov. 25 by The Market Institute, [c/o the Association of American Physicians & Surgeons, of which this physician is a member]; readers may want to check-out/explore this website:

Healthcare.gov
is not CGI’s first bungled IT contract. They were tasked with building
out a gun registry website in Canada that ultimately did not work and
cost Canadians $80 million (Heritage Foundation Blog).

Independent undercover investigations into so called ObamaCare “Navigators” have revealed instances of fraud (Heritage Foundation Blog).

ObamaCare is supposed to influence smokers to quit tobacco use, but the
opposite effect is occurring. Because of facing higher insurance
premiums due to their tobacco use, smokers are opting out of health
coverage altogether (Fox News).

Concerns over Healthcare.gov
are not going away with the end of November deadline approaching for
the website fix, but analysts think the government has until March to
really get the website working because that is when most young people
will be looking to enroll (National Journal).

Congressional Democrats are worried the White House is not taking the
electoral blowback of the fledgling ObamaCare rollout seriously enough.
There is cause for concern however, as the President and his namesake
law are polling at all-time lows (Politico).

Dr. Sklaroff  has been a consistent, and prescient,  critic of the “Affordable” Care Act since it was proposed. Read more from him here.

Affordable Boat Act

Affordable Boat Act

This particular “off the internet” i..e The Affordable Boat Act comes courtesy of Tom Flocco.

The U.S. government has just passed a new law called: “The affordable boat act” declaring that every citizen MUST purchase a new boat, by April 2014. These “affordable” boats will cost an average of $54,000-$155,000 each. This does not include taxes, trailers, towing fees, licensing and registration fees, fuel, docking and storage fees, maintenance or repair costs.

This law has been passed, because until now, typically only wealthy and financially responsible people have been able to purchase boats. This new law ensures that every American can now have an “affordable” boat of their own, because everyone is “entitled” to a new boat. If you purchase your boat before the end of the year, you will receive 4 “free” life jackets; not including monthly usage fees.

In order to make sure everyone purchases an affordable boat, the costs of owning a boat will increase on average of 250-400% per year. This way, wealthy people will pay more for something that other people don’t want or can’t afford to maintain. But to be fair, people who can’t afford to maintain their boat will be regularly fined and children (under the age of 26) can use their parents boats to party on until they turn 27; then must purchase their own boat.

If you already have a boat, you can keep yours (just kidding; no you can’t). If you don’t want or don’t need a boat, you are required to buy one anyhow. If you refuse to buy one or can’t afford one, you will be regularly fined $800 until you purchase one or face imprisonment.

Failure to use the boat will also result in fines. People living in the desert; ghettos; inner cities or areas with no access to lakes are not exempt. Age, motion sickness, experience, knowledge nor lack of desire are acceptable excuses for not using your boat.

A government review board (that doesn’t know the difference between the port, starboard or stern of a boat) will decide everything, including; when, where, how often and for what purposes you can use your boat along with how many people can ride your boat and determine if one is too old or healthy enough to be able to use their boat. They will also decide if your boat has out lived its usefulness or if you must purchase specific accessories(like a $500 compass), or a newer and more expensive boat.

Those that can afford yachts will be required to do so… it’s only fair. The government will also decide the name for each boat. Failure to comply with these rules will result in fines and possible imprisonment.

Government officials are exempt from this new law. If they want a boat, they and their families can obtain boats free, at the expense of tax payers. Unions, bankers and mega companies with large political affiliations ($$) are also exempt.

ObamaCare Unworkable Says Toomey

Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa) has issued the below statement regarding ObamaCare. He spells it out rather well. ObamaCare Unworkable Says Toomey

This week, the Obama Administration announced enrollment numbers for the President’s health care law. Just 106,185 Americans have been able to sign up. As NBC News reporter Luke Russert tweeted, Penn State’s Beaver Stadium can comfortably seat all of those enrollees.

These enrollment numbers are further evidence that the President’s health care law is a train wreck. Even more troubling, millions are losing health coverage they like because the President deemed those plans inadequate and failed to make good on his promise that “if you like your plan, you can keep it.”

Even the President recognized this was a problem. Yesterday, he announced what is, at best, a temporary fix to postpone this disaster until after the next election. This is little comfort to the millions of Americans who will now lose their insurance coverage next year.

The faulty website is only the tip of the iceberg. It is not technical glitches that will doom this system; it is the fact that the President’s health care law forces people to buy overpriced health plans they don’t want, hikes taxes, and puts important, personal health care decisions in the hands of politicians and bureaucrats instead of patients and their doctors. The whole law is unworkable.

Toomey gets it

Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa) is among the co-sponsors of Sen. Ron Johnson’s (R-Wis) “If You Like Your Health Plan, You Can Keep It Act“.

“The President’s promise that those satisfied with their health care would not see a change in coverage was critical to selling it to the American people and to convincing Congressional Democrats to vote for it,” Toomey said. “The President made that promise repeatedly. That promise unfortunately has been broken. I have heard from many Pennsylvanians that their plans will be voided. Millions of other Americans are in the same boat.

“I have long opposed the President’s health care law and believe it cannot be fixed. However, I understand we cannot repeal or defund it as long as Democrats control the Senate and President Obama – who signed it into law – resides in the While House. But we can eliminate some of the most egregious parts. And we should hold the President accountable to the promises he made when attempting to sell this monstrosity to the American people.”
