Home Stolen From 91-Year-Old And Political Leaders Don’t Care — Kudos to Channel 6 Action News for covering this but the vast majority of those in Delaware County, Pa. have yet to hear of the cruelty and injustice being inflicted on Gloria Gaynor of Upper Darby.
Mrs. Gaynor is a 91-year-old immigrant from Jamaica and had lived in her Wayne Avenue home for 25 years. She had faithfully paid her taxes and had almost paid off the mortgage.
The township offices closed when Covid hit and Mrs. Gaynor feared leaving her home so the $3,500 tax bill went unpaid.
Things began returning to normal in 2021 and so she paid the bill . The money, however, was applied to the present year and not to what was outstanding.
By 2022, the debt was two-years overdue making making the property eligible for tax sale so developer CJD Group bought the claim for $14,419 .
The home is assessed at $247,000.
What occurred was theft.
The law is supposed to protect people like Mrs. Gaynor.
Why didn’t it?
She was not trying to cheat anyone.
Someone, however, saw the chance to cheat an elderly, frail and forgetful woman.
Democrats run Upper Darby and Delaware County but it is the Republicans that sicken us.
Where were their screams of anger and outrage?
Come on, Frank Agovino, answer that.
That’s what the opposition is supposed to do you know.
Maybe you don’t know.
It would explain why you keep losing.
So sad. Thanks for covering this too! We know there are no two parties but a uniparty – and they are together. They don’t care about the “average person”. This proves it again. People need to wake up unless we take back our we the people power we will lose.
Why would the so called political “leaders” care. These people would have to actually do something, anything, just something to “lead.” Useless talking heads in positions they either are incapable, unable or unwilling to do. I’ve been calling for Frank Agvino to resign since Day One when he showed up at a “Delco Conservatives” meeting and he timidly spoke like the wishy washy squish he has proven himself time and again to be. He’s dragging an entire County down with his repeated failures to win any elections and MUST resign. I wouldn’t follow that clown into a free buffet.
How does he continue to be reelected to chair the party when he help anyone else win. What is the definition of insanity. Or Corruption for that matter.
