Injured Pedestrian Faces Charges

Ann Muller, 31, of Newtown was also held in abstentia for a May 24 arraignment in Common Pleas Court after she failed to appear for her hearing Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Lee Hunter. 

Ms. Muller is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, public drunkenness, and pedestrians crossing at other than crosswalks. The charges stem from an incident 8:58p.m., Jan. 27, in the 3400 block of West Chester Pike, Newtown, Pa.

According to the affidavit Newtown Officer Joe Vandegrift responded to a report of a pedestrian struck on West Chester Pike. The injured pedestrian, identified as Ms. Muller, was placed in an ambulance and then flown to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital.

Riddle Hospital Paramedic Thomas Pinkett said that while he was treating the woman he found a bottle of numerous different pills.

The woman who struck Ms. Muller said Ms. Muller entered the road from the center divide and she was unable to avoid hitting her.
