That was the way it was for me growing up. But my siblings and I were fortunate that my mother, being Italian, was the best cook. Except for an occasional veggie one of us didn’t like, or the rare times she made liver, which only my parents would eat, there was nary a time when all of us weren’t happy with what was for dinner.
Everything was made from scratch. The best was her homemade pizza and breads. And of course, cake!
