ObamaCare: Check The Premise

Obama seems to think that by putting ink on paper and giving a command all will have health care, and this perfectly illustrates that Obama, his advisers and pretty much everyone in the Democratic Party are clueless as to what health care is and how we get it.

Health care does not come from shuffling papers and empowering bureaucrats. It comes from people with the right aptitude who have acquired knowledge and developed skills — a taxing and time consuming process — to cure the ills of the body. They are doctors and nurses and paramedics and pharmacists and chemists in drug companies. They are engineers who improve wheelchairs, and walkers and diagnostic machines. They are hands-on people who are the farthest thing one can get from a 10-4 suit who takes two-hours for lunch.

To better our health care system the thing to do would be to increase the number of the doctors/nurses/druggists etc. and increase their efficiency so they could serve more people. Obama’s plan does not do this, however.  It will actually likely decrease the number of competent professionals, who will then be motivated to serve the bare minimum they could get away with.

You think maybe this would be pointed out in the various reporting on the matter. Why isn’t it? It not so much a conspiracy but an incompetency. The dumbest have risen to the top of the pyramid at most old media outlets.

And so idiocracy has arrived.

Obama Supporters Assault Protesters

Obama Supporters Assault Protesters — Following President Obama’s directive to “get in their faces” and “punch back twice as hard,” his supporters attacked protesters yesterday at a town hall meeting held by St. Louis Democrat Rep. Russ Carnahan.

Kenneth Gladney, 38, an African-American who had been handing out flags with the words “Don’t Tread On Me”,  was taking to St. John’s Mercy Medical Center where he wastreated for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face.

Six persons were arrested at the event, most if not all, of whom appeared to be Obama supporters.

Opponents of Obama’s plan were also reported roughed up at an event in Tampa.

Tough Love For Philly

The Senate Republicans led by Majority Leader and Delaware County’s own Dominic Pileggi (R-9) is going slow on giving Philadelphia permission to raise its sales tax from 7 percent to 8 percent.

Pileggi says solving the state budget mess comes first.

Well, kudos for Pileggi. Showing the city some tough love and forcing them to cut some fat might keep it from going the way of Detroit.

The Philadelphia Inquirer, btw, is upset with Pileggi action. If the Inky is sincere about helping  Philly’s financial situation they would move their operations back to the city from Montgomery County.

Dems Cut Check For Themselves As State Workers Twisted In The Wind

Dems Cut Check For Themselves As State Workers Twisted In The Wind — Gov. Ed “X” Rendell caved yesterday signing a partial budget allowing 77,000 state workers to get paid, an experience they have not had since July 1.

Also, money was made available for welfare checks.

Checks were cut Tuesday, however, for the Democratic members of the State House using a reserve fund the State Legislature keeps just for budget impasses.

The House and Senate Republicans declined to issue checks until the rest of the state workers were paid, as did the Senate Democrats.

Sestak To Face Specter

Congressman-Admiral Joe “I Believe The World Is Burning To The Ground And Grandpa Doesn’t Need That Pacemaker Anyway” Sestak has made it official that he is taking on incumbent Arlen “I’m A Sensitive Democrat Now And I Would Know That Grandpa Doesn’t Need The Pacemaker If I Actually Would Read The Bills I Support” Specter in the Democratic Primary for Pennsylvania’s Senate seat.

The winner takes on Pat “I’d Just As Soon Run For Governor But I have A Duty To Try To Fix The Mess Those Fools Are Making” Toomey.

The Fate Of The Springfield P.O.

The Springfield Post Office, which has graced Brookside Road in the Pennsylvania Township for more than five decades, may be moving with the rumors saying its new home will be next to Michaels Arts & Crafts, at 601 Baltimore Pike.

Postal officials are scheduled to give an full explanation at the Aug. 11 Springfield Commissioners meeting scheduled to start at 8 p.m. at the township building.

The building has long been a non-delivery facility with mail addressed to the 19064 Zip Code being trucked from the Media Annex on Route 452 in Middletown Township.

Curt Weldon Travesty Ends

The chief of staff to former congressman Curt Weldon was sentenced, July 30, for the heinous offense of not reporting $19,000 his wife made with a non-profit as required. Russell James Caso Jr., 36, got probation. Curt Weldon Travesty Ends

He joins fellow Weldon associate Cece Grimes, 42, who also got probation for the crime of destroying some emails.

These vile deeds came to light during an investigation of Weldon that became public when federal agents raided the homes  of his daughter Karen and political ally Charlie Sexton three weeks before the 2006 election. Karen and Sexton owned and operated the consulting firm Solutions North America, which the feds claimed used Weldon’s connections to win lobbying contracts.

So, umm, where are the convictions for Ms. Weldon and Sexton? Heck, what are the charges against Ms. Weldon and Sexton, or the former congressman for that matter? It’s been three years, you would think the feds would have had things pretty much wrapped up since they were willing to perform the rather significant act of staging an election-eve raid. What would have been the problem with waiting until the  Wednesday  after Election Day considering not much appears to have been found?

The raid iced the race for Joe “Grandpa Really Doesn’t Need That Pacemaker” Sestak, and got rid of Weldon who had written the controversial book  Countdown To Terror, alleging gross incompetence in the U.S. intelligence agencies.

The raids did unveil a major amount of corruption. Unfortunately the vast majority of it seems to be in federal law enforcement.

With regard to Weldon’s book here it is at Amazon.

Toll I-80 X-Man Again Tries

Toll I-80 X-Man Again Tries — Gov. Ed “X-Man” Rendell is bravely using his incompetence in state budgetary matters to revive an attempt to further snarl traffic on Pennsylvania’s interstate highways, namely making I-80 a toll road.

Smart idea. We can’t pay the state workers we have so let’s hire some more.

Toll roads are an extraordinarily inefficient means of raising revenue but their economic costs are better hidden than other taxes, and of course they give hacks of either party a chance to bestow jobs and have people kiss their rings.

With regard to the CO2-emitting traffic snarls, I guess some people who say global warming is a crisis don’t really believe it to be.

GM Spends Billion In Brazil

General Motors announced, July 29, that it was going to spend $1 billion to expand its vehicle lineup in Brazil including operations (i.e. nice-paying jobs) at its Gravitai plant. GM Spends Billion In Brazil -- General Motors announced, July 29, that it was going to spend $1 billion to expand its vehicle lineup in Brazil including operations (i.e. nice-paying jobs) at its Gravitai plant.

It looks like President Obama’s GM bailout was meant to be a foreign aid package.

Meanwhile, Honda  is consolidating all motorcycle production in Kumamoto, Japan hence ending it in the United States. If the idea was to help the U.S. economy maybe Obama should have given Honda the money.
