So what’s a tethered crop? About the only place you see the phrase is in song lyrics and photography.

In photography, it is when a photographer crops a photo while shooting tethered. Shooting tethered means having the camera connected via cable to a computer so the photo instantly appears on a large screen. It allows greater control of in-camera adjustments and  more accurate lighting. Cropping is removing unwanted parts of the photo to create a close up.

In song lyrics, it can be found in REM’s End of the World as We Know It  from 1987 with the verse “Team by team reporters baffled, trump, tetherd  crop.”

When you apply the photographic definition it almost makes sense.

At least for progressives.

Ukrainian Food Festival Is Sept. 29

Ukrainian Food Festival Is Sept. 29A Ukrainian Food Festival featuring delicious ethnic foods, music and dancing will be held noon to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29 at Holy Myrrh-Bearers Church, 900 Fairview Road, Swarthmore, Pa. 19081.

It’s free and includes tours of the historic church.

Food for sale will include pierogies, holubki (stuffed cabbage), halushi (cabbage with noodles), kielbasi, potato pancakes and homemade desserts.

The Kazka Ukrainian Folk Ensemble will perform at 1 p.m. and the Kazka Ukrainian Dancers will take the stage at 3 p.m.

It’s rain or shine and will be a great time.

Pre Roe v Wade Abortion Deaths Were Rare — Sen Dianne Feinstein appeared to claim  in this morning’s (Sept. 5) question of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh that between 200,000 and a million women died of illegal abortions in the 1950s and 1960s before a cynical Supreme Court declared it a right in 1973.

If we heard her right she is laughably wrong. There were about 300 deaths due to botch abortions per year in the 1950s which were brought down to less than 200 per year by 1965 due to advances in medicine.

To keep it in perspective, 658 persons died in boating accidents last year.

Events will be held throughout the months of September and November at various Crozer-Keystone Health System locations.

In addition to receiving a free gift, patients can enjoy free snacks and refreshments when they come for their appointment.
