Goldenberg’s Peanut Chews were invented in Philadelphia in 1917 as a high protein energy ration for troops in World War I. They didn’t become available to civilians until 1921.

Goldberg’s Peanut Chews is one of my all-time favorite candy! Glad to know it was s source of protein for the troops during WWI. My grandfather fought in that war.
That Peanut Chews were created as a war ration is something I would have never guessed at. They are probably my fav candy too.
