Obama Campaign Reports Problem

Julianna Smoot, who is President Obama’s deputy campaign manager, just sent me an urgent email titled “problem”. She says that the Romney campaign and the Republican Party began October “with $34 million more to spend than we had”.

You are just being silly Julianna. You don’t have a problem. The President can just borrow the money. He can pay it back by magic.
Just like he plans to do our national debt.

John Bolton To Visit Philly

John Bolton, our savvy and outspoken former ambassador to the United Nations, will appear for a town hall, Tuesday, Oct. 23 at National Museum of American Jewish History on Independence Mall. The event starts at 2 p.m. and the doors open at 1 p.m. Registration is required and can be made here

Slavic Christmas Lunch Is Dec. 9

Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 100 S. Penn St., in Clifton Heights, Pa. 19018 will have tis a traditional Slavic Christmas Luncheon,  Sunday, Dec. 9 immediately after the 11 a.m. Divine Liturgy.

The menu features slavic culinary delights such as  kielbasa and sauerkraut, pierogies and stuffed cabbage.  

Beverages and a large assortment of homemade desserts are included.  

Expect a large variety of door prizes.  

Cost is  $15 for adults; $5 for children  7 to 12, and free for those six and under.

Tables can be reserved for parties of eight or more.  

Those attending are asked to bring a canned good for the church’s Christmas food driver for the local needy.

Nearly Half Of Pa. State Candidates Unopposed

Pennsylvania Independent reports that 96 of 203 state house races are unopposed while nine of this year’s 25 state senate races have that status.

And that is one big reason the taxpayers in this state are on the hook for the pensions of bureaucrats and  can’t replace teachers in this state when they go on strike.

The Little Red Hen 2012

“Who will help me plant my wheat?” asked the little red hen.
“Not I,” said the cow.
“Not I,” said the duck.
“Not I,” said the pig.
“Not I,” said the goose.
“Then I will do it by myself.” She planted her crop and the wheat grew and ripened.
“Who will help me reap my wheat?” asked the little red hen.
“Not I,” said the duck.
“Out of my classification,” said the pig.
“I’d lose my seniority,” said the cow.
“I’d lose my unemployment compensation,” said the goose.
“Then I will do it by myself,” said the little red hen, and so she did.
“Who will help me bake the bread?” asked the little red hen.
“That would be overtime for me,” said the cow.
“I’d lose my welfare benefits,” said the duck.
“I’m a dropout and never learned how,” said the pig.
“If I’m to be the only helper, that’s discrimination,” said the goose.
“Then I will do it by myself,” said the little red hen.
She baked five loaves and held them up for all of her neighbors to see.
They wanted some and, in fact, demanded a share but the little red hen said, “No, I shall eat all five loaves.”

And they all painted ‘Unfair!’ picket signs and marched around and around the little red hen, shouting obscenities.
When the farmer (Obama) came he said to the little red hen, “You must not be so greedy.”
“But I earned the bread,” said the little red hen.
“Exactly,” said Barack the farmer. “That is what makes our free enterprise system so wonderful. Anyone in the barnyard can earn as much as he wants.But under our modern government regulations, the productive workers must divide the fruits of their labor with those who are lazy and idle.”
And they all lived happily ever after, including the little red hen, who smiled and clucked, “I am grateful, for now I truly understand.”
But her neighbors became quite disappointed in her. She never again baked bread because she joined the ‘party’ and got her bread free. And all the Democrats smiled. ‘Fairness’ had been established.
Individual initiative had died but nobody noticed; perhaps no one cared so long as there was free bread that ‘the rich’ were paying for.
And perhaps….this is the end……………….
And the next week, there was no bread, or anything else to eat. So, they all starved equally.
EPILOGUE
Bill Clinton Clinton is getting $12 million for his memoirs.
Hillary Clinton got $8 million for hers.
That’s $20 million for the memories from two people, who for eight years repeatedly testified, under oath, that they couldn’t remember anything.

Tips For Fall Driving

With the arrival of fall weather, PennDOT is encouraging motorists to use caution and be alert for seasonal travel hazards like sun glare, frosty mornings, fog and wet leaves, says State Rep. Jim Cox (R-129). These hazards can affect morning and evening commutes and contribute to conditions such as impaired vision and obscured traffic lines and pavement markings. 

Motorists can take additional precautions by following these tips:

• 

Checking vehicle headlights, taillights and turn signals to ensure they are working properly.

• 

Checking vehicle heating and wiper systems to ensure they are in good working order. Drivers should remember Pennsylvania law requires headlights to be on when wipers are in use.

• 

Ensuring tires have sufficient tread depth in case of early season snowfall.

• 

Watching for students walking or waiting for buses along a typical commute route.

Drivers can help reduce their risk of a crash by slowing down and using extra caution when the sun is particularly bright or on leaf-covered roadways, especially on narrow or winding roads.

Pharmacy Bill On Corbett’s Desk

State Sen. Dominic Pileggi (R-9) has tweeted that, SB 201,  a bill requiring insurance companies to give the same consideration to retail pharmacies that they do mail order ones has been passed by the General Assembly and awaits Gov. Tom Corbett’s signature.
