A particular person I know — hi Mom — has cancelled her subscription to the Delaware County Daily Times that she had for at least 40 years.
Was it because of some editorial or news story she didn’t like?
No. It was because of billing dispute involving new rates and missed deliveries.
Joe Grace would never have let that happen.

A comment by Pope Francis reported by the Latin Post regarding Hispanic immigration to the United States has riled conservatives.
“To enter the U.S. from the Mexico border would be a beautiful sign of brotherhood and help for immigrants” Francis reportedly said 
with regard to whether he will include a trip to Mexico when he visits the U.S. in September.
We like Francis although he seems to speak more from the heart than the head. Perhaps that’s what popes should do.
We, however, will speak from the head. In the spirit of compassion, the first thing to consider is why those who choose to emigrate –legally or otherwise — so choose.
Mexico, after all, has resources and climate and sun — better than where many Mexicans immigrants wind up in the U.S.
So whatever can be the reason for the emigration? Could it be the corruption, the greed and the oppression of the Mexican government? Wouldn’t a better sign of brotherhood and help be addressing those issues, Your Holiness, rather than implying the United States is somehow to blame for trying to maintain a semblance of public order.
Just sayin’.
Call it a guilty pleasure but we got for Christmas a Star Trek book by best-selling Chester County author Greg Cox that was quite a pleasure.
The book, “Foul Deeds Will Rise,” involves the franchise’s original line up (Kirk, Spock, McCoy etc.)
The plot concerns the Federation via The Enterprise mediating a peace treaty between two warring planets and features Leonore Karidian –an old love and nemesis of Captain Kirk — as the wrinkle.
The story would have made an excellent episode in the original series. Kudos Greg Cox.

Obama appears to be a tormented man who is filled with resentment, anger, and disdain for anyone of an opinion or view other than his. He acts in the most hateful, spiteful, malevolent, vindictive ways in order to manipulate and maintain power and control over others. Perhaps because, as a child, he grew up around family members and mentors who instilled him with an abiding bitterness toward the U.S. That bitterness seems not to have left him.
It is not the color of his skin that is a problem – for anyone in America. Rather it is the blackness that fills his soul and the hollowness in his heart where there should be abiding pride and love for this country.
Think: Have we ever heard Obama speak lovingly of the U.S. or its people, with deep appreciation and genuine respect for our history, our customs, our sufferings and our blessings? Has he ever revealed that, like most patriotic Americans, he gets “goose bumps” when a band plays “The Star Spangled Banner,” or sheds a tear when he hears a beautiful rendition of “America the Beautiful?” Does his heart burst with pride when millions of American flags wave on a National holiday – or is he moved to sadness and reflection when someone plays “taps” on a trumpet? Has he ever felt the depth of our admiration of the military, as lovers of those who keep America free feel when soldiers march by? It is doubtful – because Obama did not grow up sharing our experiences or our values. He did not sit at the knee of a grandfather or uncle who showed his medals and told of the bravery of his fellow troops as they fought and tramped through foreign lands sacrificing for a cause greater than their own lives. He didn’t have grandparents who told stories of suffering and then coming to America, penniless, and the opportunities they had for building a business and life for their children.

While the flurries still flurry in the Philadelphia region the Great Blizzard of 2015 predicted for today, Jan. 27, is going to wind up in the annuals of great hype.
It’s more of a dusting than the two feet some were saying but schools were closed and municipal trash collections were cancelled.
It kind of makes you wonder, though, how the self-proclaimed smarter-than-you types think they can predict the weather with high certainty 100 years from now.
Kudos to Tornado Tom Padula the Unionville High School 9th grader who has been making weather reports concerning the storm. He went into nice detail about the strong possibility as to the storm not turning out to be a disaster.
Tornado Tom — a.k.a. Thomas Padula — is predicting 9 inches, tonight, Jan. 27, for Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Tom is a 9th grader at Unionville High School.
The video below of Lars Andersen, super archer, is making the rounds of the web. Andersen is a Danish writer and painter who has decided to make his fame as an archer, investigating and relearning the forgotten skills known by our bow fighting ancestors.
Concerning the video, he told Snopes.com that none of it is digitally enhanced but many of the shots required much practice and multiple takes, and that there were some tricks involved such as using bamboo arrow and weaker bow for the shot in which he shoots an arrow from the air.
