Blame GOP Along With Democrats

By  William Evans

The claim recently made that Southeast Pennsylvania’s GOP backed Corbett’s pension revamp rings hollow.  What the GOP fears is that Corbett is likely to be replaced by Tom Wolfe in the next election and some of them will go down with Corbett.

Frankly, it will serve them right.  If the GOP had truly supported revising the pension system for the teachers union and state employees they could have done it.  But instead they frittered away the days with no solution in sight and none on the horizon.

I think this indicates that these unions hold the GOP by the short hairs just as surely as they hold the Democrats.  The victim from the legislators recalcitrance is of course the public and most notably senior citizens living on fixed incomes.

To illustrate, Rose Tree Media school district in 2007 contributed $2.5 million to the teachers’ pension fund; this year 2014, the district is contributing $9.6 million, or an increase of $8.2 million – all taken from the pockets of already strapped taxpayers.  In 2024 the contribution increases to $11.5 million.  Please note that the amounts will be greater than these numbers because of the automatic increases in annual wages that teachers will receive over this time that increase the base on which the contributions are calculated.

The typical pension paid to RTM’s retiring teachers approaches $100,000 a year.  Many have pensions that far exceed that amount.  The school district’s administrators receive even more with the average exceeding $150,000 a year and the superintendent is already scheduled to get $180,000 per year.

Nobody in the private sector receives anything close to what the teachers’ union members get and yet the rest of us are forced to subsidize this scheme out of meager salaries and paltry retirement savings.

Frankly, I think there is no hope Pennsylvania will ever resolve this problem simply because the legislators in Harrisburg are feasting on the same system.  They can’t handle change.

Border Crisis Rally At I-95

Border Crisis Rally At I-95

About 35 concerned citizens, including several Delaware County Patriots, rallied at the Exit 1 overpass of I-95 in Boothwyn, Saturday, July 19, to call attention to swarming of the our southern border by illegal aliens and the negligence by the Obama administration in dealing with the mater.

The rally lasted from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and was among the hundreds that occurred across the United States to call attention to the problem.

“The constant honking and thumbs up from both the thousands of cars on I-95 and also the hundreds of cars passing by on the heavily traveled overpass road, in addition to positive comments from walkers, was heartening and indicated overwhelming support for our viewpoint,” said rally participant Joanne Yurchak.  “Hopefully, people are starting to wake up and realize that something has to be done before the damage that the current administration is doing to America can no longer be reversed.”

She noted that it is not  only children entering the country but gang members, criminals and terrorists.

Among the 25-member Delaware County Patriots contingent in Springfield Pa.’s belated Independence Day parade, today, July 5, were (from left) Bill Reil, Dolly Connelly,  Agnes Trouillet, Bill Connelly and Whitey Coyne.

The weather was perfect and the crowd was enthusiastic. The Tea Party group got quite a number of cheers as it  passed out copies of the Bill of Rights and rub-on tattoos with only one angry elderly woman making a disparaging comment at the end.

Agnes, who is from France, is writing a thesis on the Tea Party movement for the University of Paris.

Ukrainian Freedom Fight Honored By IHF

On this barricade in the Ukraine last January is Father Ighor Fedoryshyn.

The Independence Hall Foundation (IHF) will present its 2014 Defender of Liberty Award to the Ukrainian people–citing their determination to fight for Independence and freedom as their nation comes under siege from an increasingly hostile Russian government led by Vladimir Putin.

The award will be formally presented to Natalie Shyrba, a
representative of Razom for Ukraine, tomorrow, July 4, at the Independence Visitors Center on Independence Mall in Philadelphia.

“We stand shoulder to shoulder with the Ukrainian people as they struggle against all odds to maintain their independence, just as our founding fathers and mothers did in 1776,”  said Foundation organizer, Teri Adams.

“We support the efforts of the Ukrainian people to defend their national integrity and we encourage the United States government and NATO to supply Ukrainian Freedom Fighters with the weapons and other critical supplies they need to defend their nation’s independence.”

Last September, the Foundation named the four victims of the 2012 Benghazi Embassy attack–US Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty, and Tyrone Woods–as recipients of its 2013 Defender of Liberty Award.

Jerad and Amanda Miller, the couple who murdered two police officers in Las Vegas on June 8 along with a bystander who tried to intervene have dropped out of the news.

The Millers draped a “don’t tread on me” flag over the  bodies of officers Igor Soldo, 31, and Alyn Beck, 41, before entering a Wal-mart where they killed Joseph Robert Wilcox, 31.

Initial reports had these sickos as Tea Party types. Heavy coverage was expected as has become the norm in shootings with multiple deaths.

So why did the establishment media stop covering the Millers? Well, it turns out that this heartless pair were not Tea Party after all but affiliated with the anarchists in Occupy Wall Street.

So that explains that. If the facts don’t fit the narrative down the forgotten hole it goes.

It should be remembered that Soldo and Beck were shot in ambush.

Wilcox, who had a concealed carry permit and was armed, was killed from behind by Amanda after he confronted Jerad.

Betcha Wilcox was Tea Party.

The Millers retreated to the back of the store as police closed in, where Amanda shot Jerad then herself.

Dems Pretend Tea Party

Independence Hall Tea Party Association PAC President Don Adams reports on the latest ploy by the power-lusting Democrat one-percenters –namely pretending to be tea partyers.

Adams says that a group affiliated with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a corrupt Nevada lawyer, that calls itself Patriot Majority USA  is backing Steve Lonegan in New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District Republican Primary.

The seat is now held by Republican Jon Runyan who is not seeking re-election.

Lonegan is the former mayor of Bogota, who has failed many times in a quest for state-wide office, most recently as the Republican nominee in the special election to fill the Senate seat vacated by the death of Frank Lautenberg.

Lonegan trails former Randolph Mayor Tom MacArthur, a conservative businessman, by 11 points in the 3rd District race according to polling by Monmouth University.

Lonegan is generally considered to be the weaker candidate due to his  temperamental nature and proclivity for making embarrassing gaffes, said Adams.

Adams says Patriot Majority has been sending out mail pieces attacking MacArthur for “raising taxes” and “increasing spending” which would anger Republican voters while sending out pieces accusing Lonegan of wanting to eliminate the Department of Education and defund Planned Parenthood which would please most Republican voters.

Patriot Majority uses a minuteman logo, Adams noted.

The godfather of the modern Democrat Party — whose reason for being is to accumulate wealth and power for its members by whatever means — is Saul Alinsky who dedicated his foremost work to Lucifer.

Just because something calls itself an angel of light doesn’t mean that it is. A good rule of thumb is don’t trust Democrats.

Bill Green, who is vice president of the PAC notes “For the record, during his time as a local Mayor and Councilman, MacArthur helped his town remain 1 of only 19 municipalities in NJ–and one of only 213 in the entire nation–to earn a AAA bond rating, while maintaining one of the lowest per capita tax burdens in the Garden State.”

Tea Party Likes Matt Wolfe

Matt Wolfe and wife, Denise Furey.

Calling him the right man at the right time to shake things up, the Independence Hall Tea Party PAC announced, today, that its Board of Delegates has voted overwhelmingly to endorse Matt Wolfe for Philadelphia City Council At-Large in the upcoming May 20 Special Election.

“The Independence Hall Tea Party, with thousands of adherents in the Delaware Valley, is endorsing Matt Wolfe because of his commitment to bringing fiscal responsibility to
Philadelphia city government,” said PAC President Don Adams.

“Matt Wolfe, a former Pennsylvania Deputy Attorney General and a graduate of both the University of Pennsylvania and the Villanova University School of Law, possesses excellent qualifications to serve on city council.   As an active member of the Philadelphia community for most of his adult life, Matt Wolfe knows all to well the challenges that confront the nation’s fifth largest city.

“Matt Wolfe is seeking to reduce spending and taxes–including the implementation of business and wage tax cuts–in order to stimulate growth in the city’s private sector.  He understands that a growing private sector is key to revitalizing the economy, creating jobs, and stabilizing neighborhoods.

“In addition, Matt knows just how critical it is to enact pension reform for retirees and–in the area of educational reform–school choice for our city’s children.

Here is Matt Wolfe in his own words:

The Democratic Machine has run the city for generations.  They run it not for our citizens, but for themselves.  Philadelphia did not become the poorest big city in America due to a natural disaster.  There was no Super-storm Sandy.  Philadelphia’s disaster was man-made.  Bad decisions made by politicians for whom reelection trumped good government.

Philadelphia is a great city.  Even in some of the poorer neighborhoods you see new homes being built. There is a market despite our oppressive tax rates, irrational tax structure, corruption, mismanagement and misplaced priorities.  With real leadership the city could thrive.

“In a related matter, we also agree with Matt Wolfe’s “no” position on a ballot question #2–designed to change the City Home Rule Charter requiring an elected city official to resign from their current position if they wish to seek a different elected office.

“Why should taxpayers foot the salary of an elected official who is running full-time for another office?  Like Matt Wolfe, we say keep the ‘resign to run requirement.’

“If he prevails in next Tuesday’s special election, Matt Wolfe would become an important independent voice on city council.  Philadelphia desperately needs Matt Wolfe to shake things up,” said Adams.

The New Republic has a fascinating article on long-time Jeopardy host Alex Trebek which reveals that he attends church regularly, watches Fox News, is a Redskins fan who doesn’t want them to change their name, and says the “Tea Party is a reflection of the people.”

He’s likely going to retire in 2016 but the revelation is not going to hurt his career. Jeopardy is watched by 25 million people per week, a huge number in today’s internet-inspired fractured markets, putting in second place among syndicated game shows.

The leader? Wheel of Fortune hosted by Vietnam vet and outspoken conservative Pat Sajak.

CorbettCott vs GasCott

Don Adams of the always brilliant Independence Hall Tea Party Association proposed a “GasCott” during a recent appearance on WHPT’s Dom Giordano show.

He’s encouraging Pennsylvanians to fill their tanks in New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware in response to the gas tax hike imposed last November by our Republican-led state government that will give our state the highest gas tax in the nation by 2018.

Don, by the time the full tax takes effect encouragement will not be needed to fill up in other states.

To  make our anger known in the short-term, we propose a CorbettCott. Leave Gov. Tom Corbett’s name unchecked during the May 20 primary election while voting for the down-ticket.  If enough Republicans do this, maybe a cleansing gale could be started to blow away the corrupt (insert an appropriate noun) who run the state party.

IHTP PAC Picks Connolly

IHTP PAC Picks Connolly

Calling him Reaganesque and citing his acumen as a successful businessman, the Independence Hall Tea Party PAC announced, April 30, that its Board of Delegates has voted unanimously to endorse Matt Connolly for US Congress in the Pennsylvania 17th Congressional District Republican Primary race.

“The Independence Hall Tea Party, with thousands of adherents in the Keystone state, is supporting Matt Connolly because he is a committed conservative and successful entrepreneur who will work tirelessly to achieve American Energy Independence,” said PAC President Don Adams.

“The PAC is backing Matt Connolly over his two Republican primary rivals because we think he is a viable candidate with a credible shot at defeating Congressman Matt Cartwright in the general election.

Since its founding in 2010, the PAC is 8 for 10 in contested PA primary battles.

“Matt Connolly is confident, articulate, and knowledgeable on a broad range of important issues confronting the district and the nation.

“As a businessman, Matt Connolly understands how important the private sector is to the overall health of our nation’s economy and how over-regulation is destroying the American entrepreneurial spirit.

“Matt Connolly’s support of American Energy Independence is critical to the well-being of our nation,” said Mr. Adams. “And as a winning professional race car driver in the Sports Car Division of NASCAR, Matt knows how important affordable energy is to our national transportation needs.

“Achieving Energy Independence is a core objective of the Independence Hall Tea Party. On July 4th, 2011, we held an Energy Independence Day event on Independence Mall. Over 2,000 folks attended the festivities.

“Congressman Matt Cartwright, on the other hand, has voted consistently to prohibit domestic energy production. He is one of the many reasons that the dream of Energy Independence is not being realized.

“In 2013, incumbent Cartwright voted against Energy Independence numerous times, including votes against the Keystone Pipeline Bill (H.R.3) and the Offshore Energy and Jobs Act (H.R.2231).

“Making matters much worse, in the past year and a half, Congressman Cartwright has cast over 40 votes in favor of ObamaCare while voting for taxpayer funded abortion (H.R. 7) as recently as January 2014.

“Mr. Connolly is Pro-life and committed to the repeal of ObamaCare.

“Congressman Cartwright tied Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz for the lowest score on the Independence Hall Tea Party’s 2014 Tri-State Congressional Tax Day Scorecard. Both received a dismal rating of 5%. We are confident a Congressman Connolly would receive a 95% rating.

“We note, as well, that Matt Connolly has received the support of Scranton Tea Party Founder, Laureen Cummings, who also serves as his Northeast Campaign Coordinator. Ms. Cummings was the 2012 Republican nominee for Congress in the 17h District,” said Mr. Adams.
