Citizen Activism Protects Busway

Citizen Activism Protects Busway — SEPTA is hard at work its the long-neglected Hathaway Lane busway in Ardmore and we accept a nice chunk of credit for the authority getting off its tail and going to work.

Well done, Sharon Devaney.

As work progressed, however, a new and deep pothole was found by Ellen Segal DiStefano. She told a SEPTA worker who responded that it was a township problem.

So she called Haverford Township who told her it was a SEPTA problem.

She persisted, however. She contacted elected officials and wrote about it on Facebook’s South Ardmore Business Alliance.

Lo and behold the pothole is gone.

Well done, Ellen DiStefano.

  1. Self governance. It’s our birthright. I had a similar issue with Aston Township and PennDOT. After over half a year of constant emails and calls the issue was resolved. Kudos to all who are persistent and get results

    1. Citizens need to arise and stay involved. Lack of participation in our civic duty at the local level is what has been missing for so long. Kudos to all of you who have the foresight and stamina to get up and to what is necessary to reclaim good governance….
