Lawrence Tabas GOP Zoom Call — We have been told that Pennsylvania GOP Chairman Lawrence Tabas has scheduled a Zoom call with all 67 county chairs to address concerns raised by Berks County attorney Joshua Prince regarding attempts by old guards in county parties to purge new activists from committee posts and other positions of influence.
Prince, who was a Commonwealth Court candidate in the May 16 primary, wrote about the issues in a series of blog posts starting with this one.
Most of the issues could have been handled with a phone call from the county chair to the subject in question. If that couldn’t fix it, simply looking the other way would be the smart play if the subject, a volunteer, was an effective worker.
A party that wins has its committee seats filled. A lot in Pennsylvania aren’t. It’s stupid to empty the ones where something is getting done.
If one really wants to win, that is.
Hopefully, Tabas also takes up the lawfare being waged against attorney Thomas J. Carroll of Pottstown. Carroll represented Fulton County, Pa. in its attempt to audit its own voting machines after the 2020 election.
Pennsylvania’s partisan Supreme Court sanctioned Fulton County and Carroll for this attempt to promote transparency and trust to a public that is growing ever more skeptical about the integrity of our elections.
The court is considering disbarring Carroll.
If one cares about freedom and a fair judiciary, one better start speaking up now, especially if one is a lawyer or judge.

John Emmons Leaves Chesco; Who Will Replace Him As GOP Exec Vice Chair? –John and Alison Emmons now live in Reading in Berks County, we have been told.
They bought the home in March and have been living there since at least May.
So who will be replacing John as Chester County’s executive vice chair? Party by-laws require an appointment be made 30 days after vacancy.
And who will be replacing Alison as Republican Commiteewoman for New London Precinct 395?
John was elected in June 2022 and Alison in the May 2022 primary. Both terms are for two years.
They had lived in New London for more than 20 years. The closing date on their New London home was June 16.
The new residence remains in Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District so it would not keep John from an expected rematch with incumbent Democrat Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan.
The Emmons did return to campaign at their old precinct on May 16, even setting up their traditional tent. The round trip was reportedly two and a half hours.

Was Allen Ginsberg A Pedophile?

There have been a number of accusations — such as this Substack article — that Allen Ginsberg was a pedophile.
Ginsberg was a celebrated Beat poet. He died in 1997.
There is no evidence of “a smoking gun” such as someone coming forth with a claim that Ginsberg raped him while a child.
Everything is circumstantial.
Let’s start with Ginsberg’s explanation for joining NAMBLA which stands for North American Man/Boy Love Association and is an advocacy group for pedophilia.
“I joined NAMBLA in defense of free speech,” he said in an essay. “. . .NAMBLA’s a forum for reform of those laws which members deem oppressive, (it is) a discussion society not a sex club. “
And then there are the accusations by writer Andrea Dworkin — who went from being an admirer of Ginsberg to wanting him dead.
“He was exceptionally aggressive about his right to fuck children and his constant pursuit of underage boys,” she said. “I did everything I could to avoid Allen and to avoid conflict.”
In defense of Ginsberg, a lot of academic and literary celebrities who weren’t pedophiles were speaking in support of pedophiliac rights five decades ago.
Among the signers of a 1977 petition that called for sex between adults and children to be decriminalized were Michael Foucalt, Jaques Derrida, Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir.
In my senior year of high school my eighth period English Teacher, invited us to stay for a short post-class session on “Modern American Poets”. Ginsberg was the first one, followed by Lawrence Ferlinghetti, etc.
Over the years, I met Ginsburg at seminars and poetry readings, and though I never was able to present him at any of our Reading Series, I did present his husband, Peter Orlovsky, at The Painted Bride Arts Center.
I said all that to say all this — as a Philly poet, now deceased, would say– I don’t believe, a quarter of a century after his death, that we have any real proof of his pedophilia.
I do hope I’m right.

Corrupt County Leadership May Kill Pa GOP Says Ex-Candidate — Berks County attorney Joshua Prince has blogged — here and here — about his experiences as a Republican May 16 primary candidate for Commonwealth Court.
He expresses dismay about the Pennsylvania GOP’s future as he has found that the entrenched party leadership — on the state level and in many counties — to be more concerned about keeping power and their dwindling perks than winning.
Prince says this leadership is trying to remove party activists they see as a threat to their rice bowl. Many of these activists are elected committepeople.
He echos things about what we have long written. See here and here and here and here and here for just some examples.
Prince, actually, mentions Montco and Chesco as places where the leaders put self-interests ahead of their supporters. He also mentions places such as Cumberland County where it might not be expected by those who hold romanticized views of the Pennsylvania T.
He says many of the party activists under attack are saying they’ll quite the party and support independent candidates if the attacks don’t stop.
These are the most dedicated workers come campaign time.
Prince has appealed to state GOP Chairman Lawrence Tabas to intervene.
We wrote about this as it applies to Philadelphia a decade ago.
Surprisingly for some, the Delco GOP is not on Prince’s list of villains.
It’s not on ours either.
It may not be a perfectly functional family but it remains a family. New Chairman Frank Agovino appears to be listening to activist concerns. The party leadership has even dipped its toe into election integrity, and effectively.
