Job Search Psychological Motivation

By Kate Graham Rainey

Joseph’s People Central Delco (JPCD) will host a free session, Nov. 21, on Psychological Motivation through the Job Search. The session will be held from 7-8:30 p.m., in the Parish Hall of St. Laurence Church. The church is located at 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, and the entrance to Parish Hall is from the rear church driveway off of St. Laurence Road. All are welcome, regardless of religious affiliation.

Featured speaker is Dr. Brandi Baldwin-Rana, founder of Millennial Ventures, which provides professionals with tools for leadership and career freedom. A former Psychology and Business professor at Temple University, Lancaster Bible College and Johns Hopkins, she will teach those in transition what they have been doing wrong and how to make it right.

Job seekers will experience an interactive workshop that will offer an opportunity to renew their faith, release doubt and get motivated by 2018. Come out and learn how to improve networking skills and leave with a clear plan to help navigate searching for employment during the holidays.

Dr. Brandi has been highlighted in the Philadelphia Business Journal’s “People on the Move” campaign, and was appointed to Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney’s Millennial Advisory Commission. She was recently named as one of Philadelphia’s Most Influential African American’s by the Philadelphia Tribune.

JPCD is a joint program of Media Presbyterian Church and St. Laurence Church in Upper Darby that provides networking opportunities, guidance and emotional support to job seekers and career changers. For more information, send a message through the LinkedIn group “Joseph’s People of Central Delaware County – Free Job Search Group” in the LinkedIn directory. To join, send a request and an email will be generated confirming membership. Another option is to visit www.josephspeople.org or email contactus@josephspeople.org.

Election Day 2017 Voting Republican

Election Day 2017 Voting Republican — Tomorrow, Nov. 7, is election day and as it is an off-year — no presidential or congressional races — expect a low turnout.

This just means your vote matters more. On the ballot in Pennsylvania are county officials, judges, school directors and municipal officials, along with  a referendum that will allow school districts to exempt the property tax for homes.

We plan on voting yes on the referendum and a straight Republican ticket — sorry Dale. Locally, we are quite happy with taxes and services under Republican governance albeit that is definitely not the case for the state and federal level. We are especially a big fan of Margie Rovinski for the Region 5 Springfield School Board seat.

For the judges, it either a choice between a Republican or a Democrat and we certainly don’t want any more fashion-over-law Democrats on the bench.

Russ Diamond, a state representative for whom we have much respect, has a pretty good synopsis for state judicial elections here.

AFP Explains Draining Pennsylvania Swamp Nov. 13

AFP Explains Draining Pennsylvania Swamp Nov. 13

By Kim Kennedy

We have in Pennsylvania a governor who has proved by his actions  that he is oblivious to the fact that raising taxes on a continual basis in Pennsylvania have netted disastrous results.  The Tax Foundation ranks Pa #26 out of 50 states when it comes to being a state that is competitive concerning individual taxes, business taxes, sales tax, business tax and unemployment tax.  Many of you are reading this saying, yes, I already know this to be true!

Draining the swamp, we have learned over the year, needs to happen on many levels and in many ways.  It is not just the job for the elected representative.  It is the work of citizens who care about this country and want to preserve liberty.

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) will be presenting a policy update on Monday, Nov. 13 at Champs in King of Prussia from 6 – 7:30 p.m..  The event is free and food will be served.  Come out and be informed so you can communicate effectively with your elected officials and find qualified candidates to run for office.

Meet the new Field Director for Southeastern Pennsylvania Chris Keeney.

Note the correct address is 330 Goddard Blvd, King of Prussia, PA 19406.

2017 Freedom Medal Honorees Interviewed

2017 Freedom Medal Honorees Interviewed— Barbara Ann Zippi has let us know that John Ricciutti interviewed this year’s Freedom Medal Honorees at the Delaware County Veterans Memorial rather than at Radnor Studio Channel 21 where he usually conducts them for his Veterans speaks program.

You can wait for it to appear on public access Channel 21 or watch it on YouTube embedded below.

This year’s program was done in loving memory of Linda Houldin who was instrumental in causing the memorial to come to be.

Devin Patrick Kelley Antifa Coincidence And Atheism

Atheist Devin Patrick Kelley Antifa Coincidence And Atheism —  Devin Patrick Kelley, a creepy, God-hating atheist, killed 27 people during services in a small conservative church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, yesterday, and wounded at least 30 others.

Ir occurred the day after Antifa spinoffs declared they were starting a crusade to overthrow the government.

Just a coincidence we are sure.

Yes, atheism is integral to the Antifa movement.

In a related note, we have learned that Sen. Rand Paul — a Republican who is skeptical of government — has injuries far more serious than originally though.

Paul was attacked, Friday, by his neighbor Rene Boucher. Boucher is a Democrat anti-Trumper who supports “progressive” causes. Democrat violence is something to be concerned about and has occurred close to home.

Lamar Smith Swirls To Retirement

Lamar Smith Swirls To Retirement — Sometimes it seems as though the swamp isn’t draining but it is.  Congressman Lamar Smith (R-Tx21), chairman of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee, has announced that he won’t be seeking re-election after 16 terms in office.

For some of Smith’s (not-so) great accomplishments that we have recorded on these pages click here and here.

Goodby and good riddance, Lamar.
