Montgomery and Allegheny counties, thinking they have found a loop-hole in Pennsylvania’s photo-voter ID law, are going to use county-run nursing homes to issue photo identification to voters.
The law allows allows the use of college and government-managed care facilities IDs to prove eligibility to vote. It was not spelled out that one had to be an employee, resident or student, however, hence the wise Dems who rule these counties now appear about to issue nursing home ID to all able to produce appropriate proof of eligibility. In Allegheny County’s case it appears what they will ask for is a ” non-photo state or federal identification card, a firearm permit, a utility bill, a bank statement, a paycheck, or a government check.”
Montco does not appear to have determined the criteria.
Firstly, as long as the IDs are going to legit voters those of us who are concerned about vote fraud have no problem with it, and if county administrators and commissioners want to put their names on the line as to being responsible for any abuse by going outside the box, so be it.
Secondly, there sure are a lot of pills and personal effects and such in nursing homes. It sure will be interesting in seeing how security is maintained with everybody and his uncle having an ID for the place.
Thirdly, it really isn’t that hard to get IDs for voting now is it?
