First Blood — at least the book upon which the Sylvester Stallone movie is based — is set in the fictional town of Madison, Ky., which is just a stand-in for Bellefonte, Pa. in Centre County. Author David Morrell had attended Penn State. Many of the characters in the novel have names taken from Penn State buildings.
