William Lawrence Sr Omnibit 6-23-15  The only live outdoor western to appear on network television in the US was Action in the Afternoon.  It was staged in Philadelphia on the back lot of WCAU-TV.  One of the production problems was airplanes flying overhead.  It aired Feb. 2, 1953 to Jan. 29, 1954. Its music director, Richard Lester, would go on to direct A Hard Day's Night and Help for the Beatles.
