Dem Dirty Tricks In Delco Judicial Primary

Dem Dirty Tricks In Delco Judicial Primary
By Craig Williams

As you may know, William “Chip” Mackrides (A-3) and Richard M. Cappelli (A-6) are the endorsed Republican candidates for Judge of the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas. With the Primary election less than a week away, the Democratic candidates for judge have launched a dirty-tricks campaign to deceive Republican primary voters into thinking they are actually the Republican candidates.

Candidates can cross file in judicial races.

· Push buttons A-3 and A-6 to support Mackrides and Cappelli, the ONLY Republican candidates for Court of Common Pleas on the ballot. The other two candidates are longtime registered Democrats.

· Mackrides and Cappelli are the ONLY candidates for Judge voted “Well Qualified” by the Delaware County Bar Association to serve as judge. This is the Bar Association’s highest possible rating. The Democratic candidates were deemed not recommended/no opinion.

· Mackrides and Cappelli are supported by local law enforcement and are the ONLY candidates endorsed by the Delaware County Fraternal Order of Police.

· Mackrides and Cappelli have the support of the men and women of our local trade unions. They are the ONLY candidates endorsed by the Delaware County Council of the Philadelphia Building and Construction Trades, with more than 25,000 members from 14 unions.

Beaver Valley Applications Withdrawn But Return Expected

Beaver Valley Applications Withdrawn But Return Expected
The festival outside the meeting hall.

Beaver Valley Applications Withdrawn But Return Expected — A crowd of a thousand packed into the Garnet Valley Middle School auditorium, May 14, to hear the Concord Supervisors announce that the applications for a zoning change to allow three developers to put a big box store, and various residences on 324 acres belonging to
Woodlawn Trustees has been withdrawn.

It was pointedly noted, though, that new applications are expected.

The meeting scheduled to start at 7 p.m. began five minutes late and was officially closed at 7:15 although Woodlawn Chief Operating Officer Vernon Green gave an off-the-record statement afterwards noting that Woodlawn founder William Bancroft started the trust to provide parkland and inexpensive housing for workers with the expectation that some land would be sold to fund these goals.

Cameras for all the local television stations were present. The
supervisors noted that they had received a petition of 5,500 names
against the development.

Supervisor Dominic J. Cappelli said that it will be at least
60 days before  any new applications would be received and hearings
will be  announced well in advance on the township website.

Cappelli during the hearing noted that Supervisor Chairman Dominic
Pileggi had recused himself from the matter in October due to a conflict
of interest.

A note to Republicans: among those attending were Democrat County Council candidate Bill Clinton and Democrat Register of Wills candidate Frank Daly. Expect a fight this year.

Progressive Nazis At Swarthmore

Progressive Nazis At Swarthmore — Delaware County has got itself in the national spotlight due the actions of progressives who crashed a Swarthmore College’s Board of Managers demanding the college divest from fossil-fuel businesses.

The activists took over the microphone, shouted down those who objected and completely violated the rules of order.

Who needs laws if your cause is just? Or at least if you convince yourself that it is.

Once suspects this crowd could easily rationalize serious violations of the rights of others — siccing the IRS on them if they should object to their policies perhaps or wiretapping their phones– if they should ever obtain the power to do so.

Delco Vet Memorial Dedicated — Big names came to Newtown Square, today, May 11, 2013 to dedicate the Delaware County Veterans Memorial, which, as Delaware County Councilman Mario Civera said in his remarks will soon be the landmark on West Chester Pike.

The monument, an arc of pillars embracing a sculpted eagle and
name-engraved pieces of marble, is atop a small hill at Alice Grim
Boulevard. There is a pillar for each of the nation’s wars including the
present one upon which are carved the quotes from the leaders of the
conflicts mingled with the words of local persons who served.

It competes with anything found in Washington D.C.  Civera echoed the words of Gov. Tom Corbett who had spoken earlier and noted that not a penny of tax dollars was used in its construction.

The land was donated by developer Claude deBotton, who described himself as an Italian born in Egypt who fled that nation amidst war and persecution to America in 1956.

He spoke of his great love for his adopted land. “Your citizens accepted me,” he said. “Your children protected me. . . God bless you.”
Corbett was introduced by Major General Wesley E. Craig who is the adjutant general of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Corbett, after his remarks, introduced former governor and first secretary of homeland security Tom Ridge. Ridge, a combat veteran from Vietnam, noted the importance of listening to veterans. He said those who have recently served in Iraq and Afghanistan have much to teach us.

Also speaking was 7th District Congressman Patrick Meehan who read a roll of the local persons whose names are quoted on the pillars; former Newtown Supervisor Linda Houldin, who noted how the push for the monument came from Newtown residents and former Marines the late Stan Short and the late Steve Neri; Guy Fizzano, who is president of the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association; and Brigadier Gen. Kevin J. Jacobsen, who is Air Force commander the Office of Special Investigations at Quantico, Va, and is a graduate of Marple Newtown High School.

Keynote speaker was author Benjamin Patton, who is the grandson of Gen. George S. Patton, Jr. and the son of Major Gen. George S. Patton IV.

The invocation was given by Rev. Dr. Wylie W. Johnson of the Springfield Baptist Church. The benediction was given by Rabbie Max Hausen, a World War II veteran and rabbi meridius of Main Line Reform Temple and Father James Kelly, pastor emeritus of St. Piux X Church of Broomall.

Music was provided by retired state trooper Lt. Kevin Pierce and Yvette Pecorao and Christopher Pecoraro.

Everyone worked feverishly to save lives. I learned to administer anesthesia, assisted in back surgery, anything necessary. No one complained. There was not time to feel tired, to even know your feet were hurting. When a lull came, while we waited for the next wave that we knew was inevitable, we would grab a couple of minutes of sleep.

Bob Edgar (1943-2013) Pol Pot

Bob Edgar (1943-2013) Pol Pot — Bob Edgar died yesterday, April 23. He represented the 7th District of Pennsylvania in Congress from 1975 to 1987. He was a Democrat.

One should not speak ill of the dead so I’ll simply note that my most vivid recollection of him is the series of articles he wrote for The Philadelphia Inquirer in which he defended Pol Pot and denied the existence of the Cambodian killing fields.

Gun Control And Mayors

Marcus Hook Mayor James “Jay” Schiliro who is facing charges for allegedly firing a gun inside his home in an attempt to
intimidate a 20-year-old  man to have sex with him is a member of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the
organization run by New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg to advance
stricter gun regulations around the United States, reports Breitbart.com

Wonder how he feels about sodomy laws.

Schiliro  is charged with official oppression, recklessly endangering another person, unlawful
restraint, false imprisonment and providing alcohol to a minor, all
misdemeanor offenses.

He is a Republican, by the way. It doesn’t matter. A disproportionate number of politicians are sociopaths. Don’t trust anybody who really wants to be the boss.

Tahmir Craig Case Black Eye For Whelan

Tahmir Craig Case Black Eye For Whelan — Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan announced in a press conference yesterday, March 20,  that he was dropping the case against Tahmir Craig whom he had charged with first degree murder for the May 28 killing of Devon Williams in Chester.

It turns out that Craig had a strong alibi and that he was six-inches too short to have been the shooter who was captured on video.

Craig had spent the last 10 months in the county lockup.

Whelan appears to be expecting some pats on the back for, well, deciding against trying to send this young man — Craig is 23 — to  the execution gurney.

“As prosecutors in the administration of justice, we have an absolute
duty to exhaust all resources in our efforts to pursue the truth,”
Whelan said.

The pats on the back are not going to come from here.

Craig was arrested after tips came  to police that the shooter was named “Tahmir”. Police checked a police data base and Craig’s name came up. They thought his picture sorta looked like the one on the video, and witnesses picked him out of a photo array.

Bingo! Case solved!

You would think, though, that due diligence by trained professionals would involve checking alibis and determining heights before filing charges, and that a private attorney would not need to be hired to insist on these rather basic things being done before one tries to send a young man to his death and requires him to spend nearly a year in prison.

You know the real killer is still out there, right, Jack?

After Watching Silver Linings Playbook

Things to do after watching Silver Linings Playbook:

1. Order Raisin Bran at the Llanerch Diner, which, btw, is $2.20.

2. Check out the Eagles 2008 season to see how well it jives with the film. It’s a perfect match it seems.

Things not to do:

1. Walk from the Llanerch Diner to the Lansdowne Theater.

2. Expect to see a Ridley Park cop patrolling the neighborhood.

Watchstander Is Online

The 14-mile stretch of the Delaware River bordering Delaware County, Pa. is now covered by Boeing Watchstander Integrated Security Solutions, which provides 24-hour surveillance, detection, identification and recognition at key sites.

Watchstander cameras show live activity including boat traffic along the Delaware with views of the refineries, shipping terminals, PPL Park, Commodore Barry Bridge and Harrah’s Casino and Racetrack.
Boeing got the contract to install it in July 2011. The announcement that it was online was made Oct. 16.

“Delaware County is home to refineries, two-thirds of Philadelphia International Airport is in the County, plus the Delaware River runs parallel to an interstate highway and major railroad lines, which demands that we provide the most advanced security available for this region,” said District Attorney Jack Whelan.
