Delco Departments To Join Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Police departments throughout Pennsylvania will accept unwanted, expired and unused prescription drugs 10 a.m. to 2 p..m. Saturday, Sept. 29, as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, sponsored by the federal Drug Enforcement Agency. 

No personal information is required to participate in a drop-off. 

Among the Delaware County departments participating are Springfield, Marple, Media, Brookhaven, Radnor, Chester, Glenolden, Marcus Hook, Nether Providence, Sharon Hill and the State Police Media Barracks in Middletown.

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day last April resulted in people across the nation turning in a record-breaking 276 tons of unwanted or expired medications for disposal. The Pennsylvania State Police alone collected more than 3,500 pounds of unused and unwanted pharmaceutical drugs for safe and proper disposal, according to State Rep. Jim Cox (R-129)
