China’s Three Gorges Dam is usually considered the world’s most powerful hydro-plant with a capacity of producing 22.500 MW (megawatts or 1 million watts per hour), but world record holder for making water-power is the Itaipu Dam which is jointly run by Brazil and Paraguay. It has produced 103.1 TW (terawatts or 1 trillion watts) in the course of a year. Three Gorges has only managed 98.8 TW.
