Van Johnson Deserves Stamp

Henry and Bobbie Shaffner tell us that a petition is being circulated to get the United States Postal Service to issue a commemorative stamp for movie great Van Johnson.

We join the chorus.

Mr. Johnson — who ruled the silver screen in 1954 appearing in six films that year including  The Caine Mutiny, Brigadoon and The Last Time I Saw Paris — died in 2008.

  1. Hello! Sophie,

Thank you for your positive feedback for a US Postal Stamp for the
great Van Johnson. He would have been
100 years old in the year 2016, and that
is our target date for getting the stamp. Ingrid Bergman, another great star of Swedish heritage, as was Van,
will be getting a US Postal Stamp this
August, in what is known as the Hollywood Legend Series.
As for Liberace, someone who is a
real fan of his would have to start a
campaign. If you feel strongly enough
about it you can do it, too. We started our campaign soon after Van passed away
in December, 2008. Wish us luck!

  2. I think a Van Johnson stamp to be available on the date of his birthday would be awesome. It’s like a giving back present for all the contributions he gave. I just wish that it would look good and will come in a variety so people could choose.
