You may not recognize the name of Emma Lazarus who wrote the poem The New Colossus but you will probably recognize the last five lines which are “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”
Those are inscribed on a bronze tablet at the base of the Statue of Liberty.
