But note, that neither Simon nor his companions could draw the net to land. Speechless from fright and astonishment for their wonder had made them mute, they beckoned to their partners, to those who shared their labors in fishing, to come and help them in securing their prey.

Council Candidate Calls Out Delco Virtue Signaling; Why Is County Supporting Transitioning Kids? — A camera crew came to Delaware County (Pa) Council’s Sept. 20 meeting which was kind of strange as there was nothing particularly controversial on the agenda.
Well, there was item 7A which was a resolution condemning all forms of hateful behavior based on race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability or religion.
But is that really controversial today?
Anyway, the weirdness increased when a crew member place their own microphone at the podium. The event was being recorded by the county but it seems this group wanted to make sure they got it for themselves.
Whatever could they have been expecting?
The first speaker was Joy Schwartz, a Republican who is running for County Council, Nov. 7.
Did they know she would speak? How could they?
And did they expect her to rant bile like, well, a Democrat?
“You are absolutely right to condemn racism and bigotry and I join you in condemnation of its various forms,” Joy began. “It is vile to divide people into artificial categories with different standards of privilege and treatment. That is the essence of bigotry.”
She said the county was doing just that. She noted that council happily provided a holiday and raised a flag for a trans-activist but rebuffed her request for the raising of the historic Appeal to Heaven flag.
“Is that fair treatment or is that bigotry?” she asked. “It is interesting that the resolution mentions religion last on its list of protected classes.”
She continued:
There is something else I am puzzled about. You need to define “hateful behavior.” Is that thought, word or deed? Is it on social media?

Did Moses commit hateful behavior when he recorded the story of Sodom and Gomorrah?
Did St. Paul commit hateful behavior when he said that certain actions would prevent people from entering heaven?
Is calling out evil hateful behavior?
Is condemning the grooming of children hateful behavior?
Is acknowledgement of biological facts hateful behavior?
And what d0 you do when you observe hateful behavior? Will you go after the haters? Maybe ban them from making public comments?
And how would you gather examples of hateful behavior in order to do that? Would you be doing that through ZenCity AI software?
I also have a comment about Item 10V. The Rosetree Center for Healthy Sexuality. This LLC is encouraging gender transitions for minors and other practices that some would consider immoral.

If the plot with the extra mike was to make Joy look bad, it fizzled.
Council comments at the end of the meeting were strangely reasonable, even informative.
Councilwoman Christine A. Reuther discussed a Children and Youth Services caseworker’s five-page report for August.
“I’m not going to read the whole thing,” she said. “It’s heartbreaking.
She said he was assigned 11 immediate response cases — which are the highest priority ones. Seven cases involved physical abuse of a child and came from hospitals or other mandated reporters. There was a case of a child fatality. There was a case involving the trafficking of a teenage immigrant from Honduras.
She also said there were three cases of children in high-risk-living conditions involving drugs and violence.
She said August is usually considered a slow month.
Coucilman Kevin M. Madden addressed a comment by Carris Kocher who said the way the American flag was displayed in violation of the flag code. Madden conceded that she was right, and that it be fixed.
A liquid natural gas (LNG) terminal being discussed for construction in Chester had been brought up in public comments by a city resident opposed to it.
This opposition makes as much sense as a Jed Clampett opposing an oil well. The world needs Pennsylvania’s natural gas and is willing to pay for it. Build the thing and make sure the people of Chester — and the rest of Delco — get their cut.
And no, Kevin, the people of Chester have not been subject to a history of “environmental racism.” When those polluting shipyards and factories were booming in the 1940s it was a mostly white city. And, don’t be so sure it’s going to stay majority Black. Check out the migration trends.
Are residents of Marcus Hook victims of “environmental racism?” How about those of Tinicum with all those low flying jetliners?
And in another matter Council approved acquiring by eminent domain three properties from unknown owners for the extension of the Chester Creek Trail. The acquisition would be a little more than a tenth of an acre.
Council Candidate Calls Out Delco Virtue Signaling
Maybe we should call them SPD’s, or Second Party Dems, because they don’t have any realistic chance of reaching the Democratic Party debates.
The Democrats are having debates, aren’t they?
Anyway, there are a lot of SPD’s, and some of them express really innovative and challenging ideas. One such candidate is Jimmy Cooper of Georgia, not related to Tennessee Congressman Jim Cooper, or any other Jim Cooper.
Cooper mentions on his website that he is being treated for a recently diagnosed multiple myeloma.
He ran as a Green, for the US House representing Georgia’s 8th District in 2018 and 2020, and for the State of Georgia’s 145th District in 2022. He also volunteered in the campaigns of both Bernie Sanders (D) and Jill Stein (Green).
Though Cooper is running as a Democrat this time, his Greenness can be seen by perusing his 20 pages of issues. Among the ones worth mentioning are the following:

Repeal GATT, NAFTA, and Taft-Hartley
Initiate A Basic Income (currently a hot topic in the UK and elsewhere)
Guarantee 100 percent of the necessary medical care that wounded veterans need to heal

Require that police actually live in the communities in which they serve

Missouri Escapee Arrested In Chesco — Mario Che-Tiul who escaped from a Missouri jail was arrested today, Sept. 21, in Chester County, Pa. in Avondale.
He was facing charges of child molestation.
What was he doing in Chesco?
It sure is a long way from the Show Me State.
Did the word go out on the criminal grapevine that Chesco was a nice, woke place to hide out considering murderer Danelo Cavalcante managed to bust out of Chesco’s prison and spend two weeks on the lam?
Houck is primarying incumbent Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick in Pennsylvania’s 1st District.
The election is April 23.
The 1st District consists of Bucks County along with parts of Montgomery County and Philadelphia.
Houck made national news when he was arrested at his home the early morning of Sept. 23, 2022, by 25 heavily armed FBI agents who arrived in a convoy of 15 vehicles.
Stopping partisan lawfare and the judicial intimidation of political dissenters are important parts of his campaign, along with, of course, protecting the weak and helpless, and empowering parents.
Delco DA Candidate Blasts Prison Conditions — Beth Stefanide who seeks to unseat Jack Stollsteimer as Delaware County D.A. blistered the management of George W. Hill Correctional Facility where neglect led to the agonizing death of inmate Mustafa Jackson.
Jackson, a 25-year-old paraplegic, was found in his cell on Feb. 12. He was laying face-down in an adult diaper with new and used catheters laying around. His autopsy says he died of urosepsis.
Medical authorities believe the condition is extremely painful and his death was excruciating.
Ms. Stefanide made her remarks at a 1 p.m., today Sept. 21, at a press conference outside the courthouse in Media.
She said that if she should win she would want to be certain that those she sends to the prison are provided safety and get necessary medical treatment.
Since the county took over from GEO Group on April 6, 2022 there have been at least three suicides; a wrong inmate was released, and a man was strangled by his cellmate.
The suicide tally — which occurred in the first 10 months — was the most in the prison in a single year since at least 2015.
The prison went private in 1998.
“These inhuman conditions . . . are going to come back to cost us, the taxpayers,” Ms. Stefanide said.
She said that GEO was on the hook for any lawsuits when it ran things.
“Guess what ladies and gentlemen that’s not the case now,” she said.

Taxpayers can be expected to be shelling out big for the death of Mr. Jackson.
Ms. Stefanide demanded an investigation into his death by the state attorney general, along with a full review of prison policies.
“(Mr. Jackson) deserves justice,” she said. “We need to know what happened.”
The county fought tooth-and-nail the release of Mr. Jackson’s autopsy only surrendering when Commonwealth Court ruled against Allegheny County in July in a similar case.

Ms. Stefanide wondered how Laura Williams –who only started her career in corrections in 2014 — became warden.
“I have to question whether Laura Williams is cut out for this job,” she said.
She noted Ms. Williams training is in psychology. As deputy warden at Allegheny County Jail she oversaw health care. The health care manager quit specifically citing Ms. Williams administrative style.
Ms. Stefanide said Ms. Williams is being sued by an Allegheny inmate who had his leg amputated after months of neglect.
Ms. Stefanide said that the county is now spending $60 million to run the prison despite a record low population of 820 inmates.
It held 1900 inmates on a budget of $43 million when the county took over.
She said prison management was a serious matter and cited the turmoil, cost and fear in Chester County and southwest Delco that occurred in the two weeks murderer Danelo Cavalcante was on the lam.
County Council candidate Jeff Jones also spoke noting the culpability council has for what has been occurring.
Jones and Ms. Stefanide are Republicans. The election is Nov. 7. Running with Jones for council are Joy Schwartz and Bill Dennon. Running for Common Pleas Court Judge is Dawn Getty Sutphin.
