Robert Lincoln Edwin Booth — Robert was the only son of Abraham Lincoln to survive till adulthood and have children. He almost didn’t though. While on a train platform in Jersey City in late 1863 or early 1864, he was pushed by the crowd and likely would have fallen to his death but for a passerby who grabbed him at the last moment.  The passerby? He was Edwin Booth, the noted actor and brother of John Wilkes Booth.

Can’t Just Come To Canada

Can’t Just Come To Canada –– Hey Erick Lexi, we have a song subject for you.

Lexi is the Cuban singer who was deported from Columbia to Ecuador after he entered that nation no tener documentos.

Why Ecuador? Guess he didn’t want to go back to Cuba for some strange reason. It certainly must be a strange reason as all the smart norteamericano progressive types think Cuba is some kind of paradise.

But leave that aside. Here is our song idea. It’s called “Can’t just come to Canada”.

You see with the Trump Administration in power, Canada is sending emissaries to the American illegals telling them no vayas al norte.

“You can’t just come to Canada and cross the border and stay there the rest of your life,” Pablo Rodriguez, a member of parliament and a strong ally of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, said only last month.

So Erick maybe you can take our idea and make a social justice rap with it or something. You don’t even have to give us credit.

Truthfully, Erick we don’t think you’d want to go to Canada. Did you ever notice the resemblance between Trudeau and Fidel? Just sayin’.

Stay in Miami. You are employed and  here legally, right?

Can’t Just Come To Canada

Can't Just Come To Canada
Won’t see this in the Great White North.

The DOPE Bird Personality Test, which is an acronym for Dove, Owl, Peacock, Eagle, will assist individuals in creating more effective work relationships and understanding how to communicate among different personality styles. This 4-Bird personality test promotes self-assessment, intensifies self improvement, complements career and personal development and can be used to improve how we interact with others.

Employees who are self-aware, are more likely to maximize their talents, recognize and manage their challenges and produce better results. Every employee is a co-creator of workplace culture. When people understand their own style and show respect for individual differences, they impact the culture in a positive way. By applying the wisdom of the styles, each person improves the culture, one interaction at a time. Theres an expression in neuroscience, what wires together fires together. This training wires DISC to existing knowledge and thus it fires at just the right time.

JPCD is a joint program of Media Presbyterian Church and St. Laurence Church in Upper Darby. Eagles Faith Shines A Light Of Athletic Hope

Eagles Faith Shines A Light Of Athletic Hope

By Carla D’Addesi

Eagles Faith Shines A Light Of Athletic HopeThe NFL, until recently, was a tax-exempt, non-profit, which had been shrouded in controversy regarding corporate tax breaks and secrecy about its inner financial working. Often regarded as an organization that promotes fame and fortune, while objectifying women, the NFL has been steeped in controversy among those who worship its very existence.

Millionaire NFL players nationwide used their fame to seek self-aggrandizing attention by kneeling, sitting and fist-raising rather than standing and respecting our American flag and National Anthem. Declining ratings and viewership by American citizens boycotting the NFL caused the horizon to appear bleak for the NFL as empty seats and poor merchandise sales reflected the annoyance felt by most NFL fans.

When out of the dark, a beacon of hope emerged in the unlikeliest of teams – The Philadelphia Eagles! “This little light of mine, I’m gonna’ let it shine,”a childhood song learned by millions of American children in religious schools or Sunday school captures the essence of today’s Philadelphia Eagles!

Courageous, proud, and bold, Philadelphia Eagles players have used their fame as a platform to express their very personal and strong faith as Christians in a time when the Main Stream Media and Hollywood elite shun the very mention of Christianity. Who would have thought that their faith would be on public display exemplifying timeless themes of the weak vs. the strong? David vs. Goliath?

Team unity and faith amongst a core group of Philadelphia Eagles players appears to be the motivation that propelled the team to NFL history, as underdogs, capturing a 2018 Super Bowl victory, 41-33 against the New England Patriots!

From Carson Wentz’s vow to play for an “Audience of One” to Marcus Johnson getting baptized in a swimming pool with Eagles’ teammates witnessing his ceremony in a Charlotte, NC hotel, the Eagles are not shy about professing their faith. Carson Wentz, Zach Ertz, Stefan Wisniewski, Trey Burton, Jordan Hicks and Nick Foles appeared to be in attendance at the hotel pool baptism and Christian re-birth.

Historically, the Philadelphia Eagles have boldly stood for Christ. In 1977, running back, Herb Lusk, became the first NFL player to kneel in prayer in the endzone following a touchdown. A few years later, Lusk felt a calling to become a pastor on Broad Street in North Philly.

In 1985, notable Philadelphia Eagle, Reggie White, voted by ESPN as the greatest player in Eagles’ franchise history, led Bible studies and Evangelical Christian ministries for the Eagles and the Philadelphia area.

Tim Tebow, 2015, became known for his humility and outspoken faith for the Philadelphia Eagles when he prayed in the endzone wearing John 3:16 under the black marks protecting his eyes.

I had the honor of meeting Tim Tebow’s Mom at the White House at a Pro-Life event in January, 2018. Referring to God’s guidance multiple times, Tim Tebow’s mom was an inspiration to me to continue to nurture my own children in following the narrow and sometimes unpopular path, laden with obstacles and challenges, towards Christ.

The Super Bowl LII MVP, Nick Foles, has recently announced his plans to become a pastor to high school students following his NFL career. “Unbelievable. All glory to God,” Foles said during the Super Bowl trophy presentation and MVP ceremony.

I believe this is NOT happenstance, nor coincidence but instead, divine PROVIDENCE. God’s providence is visible over our lives when we least realize it or least expect it.

Whether a football fan, Eagles fan or simply an observer of the celebrations in Philly this week, it’s hard not to smile in wonder and amazement at the strength of these young men who follow God’s calling rather than seek fame and fortune’s all too frequent rewards of “sex & drugs & rock and roll!”

Thank you for being American heroes. We all respect you. Especially our youth!

A plan to build an aircraft carrier out of ice and sawdust was seriously considered during World War II. The substance — pykrete — is as strong as concrete and has a slow melting rate. It can be repaired with seawater.

Lunch With Joe Billie

Lunch With Joe Billie
Joe Billie

Lunch With Joe Billie — We just finished a lunch with Joe Billie, who may be the only declared Republican candidate seeking to to replace out-going  Pat Meehan in Pennsylvania’s 7th District.

Billie says a Chadds Ford man has also officially declared but we can’t find much about him.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled Jan. 22 that the congressional districts established in 2010 and used for three election cycles were unconstitutional and ordered them redrawn . Today (Feb. 9) is the deadline but as of this writing the new boundaries are unknown to us. Billie is a resident of Aston, however, and it is a pretty safe bet that Aston will be included.

Billie began his campaign months ago angered by Meehan’s attitude towards veterans — Meehan was the only Republican to vote against the VA Accountability Act of 2015 — and his  hypocritical disavowal of then candidate Trump two weeks before the 2016 election.

A veteran himself, Billie left classes at Delaware County Community College in 1990 to join the Navy when Operation Desert Shield began. He was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS America eventually rising to the rank of petty officer. He was involved in numerous actions in the Persian Gulf, Bosnia and Somalia.

Leaving the service in 1994,  Billie returned to college pursing a degree in criminal justice. He became active in the community re-joining the Folcroft Fire Co. where he grew up. He rose to the position of chief and also became the borough’s fire marshal. He became an assistant fire marshal in Aston after moving to that town.

Billie re-enlisted in the Naval Reserve after 9/11.

He works at the Kimberly Clark paper mill in Chester  and is a member of the United Steelworkers.

Billie is married to a (legal) immigrant from Portugal and has two children, one of whom will be starting  college in the fall.

He describes himself as a constitutional conservative and is right on just about everything. For details see his website.

He says he understands  teamwork and that working with Dems is key in the 7th District.

Governors Run Alone Notes Gale

Joe Gale

Governors Run Alone Notes Gale — Montco Commissioner Joe Gale who is among those running for the GOP lieutenant governor nomination in the May 15 primary, has observed that that gubernatorial candidate Paul Mango may be on the verge of announcing a lieutenant governor “running mate.”

“If so, this would be the same mistake gubernatorial candidate Scott Wagner made when choosing RINO Jeff Bartos to be his so-called “running mate,” Gale says.

Gale notes that there is no such thing as a joint ticket in the Republican primary for Governor and Lieutenant Governor. These are two separate and distinct races.

“Don’t be fooled by fake tickets between now and the May 15th primary election,” he said. “I am the only Lieutenant Governor candidate that can help the eventual Republican gubernatorial nominee defeat Democrat Tom Wolf in November when there truly is a Republican ticket chosen by the Republican voters of Pennsylvania.”

Regina Scheerer

Charlton Gets Primary Opponent –Regina Scheerer has announced that she will be taking on incumbent State Rep. Alex Charlton of the 165th District in the Republican Primary.

Mrs. Scheerer is a retired middle school math teacher. She has lived in Springfield for 40 years and has 12 grandchildren.

Charlton’s vote against a bill that would limit abortions in Pennsylvania to 20 weeks — the present limit is 24 weeks — was the final straw for her albeit there was much leading up to it.

Here is her statement explaining why she is running:

Dear Neighbors and Friends in Springfield—I will be challenging our State Representative Alex Charlton in the upcoming May Primary on May 15.

First I must get my name on the ballot.

In order to do that, I need 300 valid signatures of registered Republican voters in Springfield, Marple and Radnor Townships, and Morton Boro, on petitions to be circulated starting next Tuesday, February 13 and ending on Wednesday, February 28.

Since signatures on petitions may be challenged, and therefore voided, we need 600 signatures altogether.

I need volunteers to go to registered Republican voters in their neighborhoods to collect these signatures.

I will give you a list of the Republican voters in your neighborhoods along with instructions.

An alternative to going door-to-door would be to host 20 – 30 registered Republican voters at your house for an hour, I would come to speak to them and then they would sign the petition.

A combination of both may work for you also.

Why am I doing this?

The main reason is that Alex Charlton ran and was elected as a pro-life Republican. (Pro-life is a platform of the Republican Party.)

He recently voted against a bill that would have limited abortions in PA to 20 weeks (5 months) gestation, which is more than half the time of a woman’s full term pregnancy.

It would not have taken away a woman’s right to an abortion, but it would have lowered the allowable time in PA from 24 weeks to 20 weeks.

16 other states have already adopted the 20 week limit.

The bill also would have banned the barbaric practice of dismemberment abortions.

A Delaware County Republican representative has never voted against a pro-life bill.

Alex Charlton’s pro-abortion vote is incompatible with the Republican Party and incompatible with those who respect Life.

Rest assured, I will not be a one-issue candidate. There are other issues directly affecting PA taxpayers; one, that is especially impacting Springfield School District taxpayers with the building of the new high school, is the required “prevailing wage”.

Elephants can sometimes be seen in Springfield too.

Hanno was the Vatican elephant. He was white and given as a gift by King Manuel I of Portugal to Pope Leo X in 1514. He was a favorite and featured in many processions. He became constipated, however, and was given a laxative that killed him. It was a sad time. The great artist Raphael designed the memorial fresco and the Pope himself composed the epitaph.

Hanno is buried under the Vatican courtyard.
