Plastic Panels May Light Our Homes Next Year

Scientists at Wake Forrest University have developed a new form of lighting that can last for a decade and gives off white light unlike the bluish LEDs.

It’s twice as efficient as the compact florescent bulbs and doesn’t buzz.
Oh, and it’s shatter-proof.
They call it field-induced polymer electroluminescent technology or FIPEL.
They say it can made to give off the same light as sunlight or any color for that matter.
They say it can be made into 2×4 sheets to fit standard florescent fixtures or with the traditional Edison socket.
One imagines it can even be made as parts of furniture and shelving.
Wake Forrest says it is working with a company to make them and they could be on the market by next year.
